Parijs, 25 maart 2024<\/strong> \u2014 In Frankrijk heeft een parlementaire commissie een verbod<\/a> over wegwerp-e-sigaretten. De World Vapers' Alliance (WVA) dringt er bij beleidsmakers op aan de verstrekkende gevolgen van deze maatregel voor de volksgezondheid en de schadebeperking te heroverwegen.<\/p>\n

Michael Landl, de directeur van de WVA, verklaart:, \u201cEen verbod werkt niet. Dat heeft het nooit gedaan en dat zal het ook nooit doen. Een verbod op wegwerp-e-sigaretten zal de vraag niet wegnemen, maar deze verschuiven van de gereguleerde markt naar de zwarte markt, met negatieve, onbedoelde gevolgen voor de volksgezondheid tot gevolg.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Het verbod op wegwerp-e-sigaretten werkt averechts op het gebied van schadebeperking, stelt Landl verder. \u201c"Wegwerp-e-sigaretten kunnen een cruciale tussenstap zijn voor rokers die willen stoppen. Ze bieden een gemakkelijke instap en veel rokers stappen uiteindelijk over op andere e-sigaretten. Het is essentieel voor de volksgezondheid om die overgang van roken naar vapen zo soepel mogelijk te laten verlopen. Terwijl sigaretten, waarvan bekend is dat ze extreem schadelijk zijn, nog steeds gemakkelijk verkrijgbaar zijn, is het verbieden van een minder schadelijk alternatief onlogisch."\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Het verbod is bedoeld om 'een hoog niveau van bescherming van de volksgezondheid te garanderen, met name ter bescherming van jongeren en niet-rokers tegen bewezen gezondheidsrisico's'. De WVA benadrukt echter dat vapen, inclusief wegwerp-e-sigaretten, aanzienlijk schadelijk is. minder schadelijk<\/a> dan het roken van sigaretten.
