De Britse regering is van plan roken voor toekomstige generaties te verbieden en ook de keuze aan smaken voor e-sigaretten aan banden te leggen.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance, gaf de volgende reactie:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>\u201cDe recente koerswijziging van het Verenigd Koninkrijk met betrekking tot smaken in e-sigaretten is niet alleen misleidend, maar ook gevaarlijk losgezongen van de wetenschappelijke realiteit. Door beperkingen op smaken door te voeren, negeert de regering-Sunak op flagrante wijze een schat aan wetenschappelijk bewijs dat de voordelen van vapen ten opzichte van alternatieven onderstreept. Het is bewezen dat e-sigaretten met smaakjes de kans op succesvol stoppen met roken met een factor 2301 verhogen in vergelijking met e-sigaretten zonder smaakjes. Het is afschuwelijk om te zien dat zo&#039;n cruciaal instrument voor de volksgezondheid wordt afgewezen door de regering die ooit voorop liep in de strijd tegen schadelijke gevolgen.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">De WVA benadrukt dat vapen minder schadelijk is dan roken en effectiever is bij het stoppen met roken dan traditionele methoden zoals kauwgom en pleisters. De organisatie benadrukt dat het beperken of verbieden van de toegang tot e-sigaretten niet alleen de inspanningen op het gebied van de volksgezondheid ondermijnt, maar ook tot onnodig verlies van levens leidt.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>\u201c&quot;Door de toegang tot smaakstoffen te beperken, een essentieel hulpmiddel voor veel rokers die overstappen op veiligere alternatieven, sluit de overheid in feite een bewezen manier af om te stoppen met roken.&quot;,<\/em> voegde Landl eraan toe.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">De WVA dringt er bij de Britse regering op aan haar standpunt te herzien, een meer op bewijs gebaseerde aanpak te hanteren ten aanzien van wegwerp-e-sigaretten en de huidige strategie voor schadebeperking te handhaven.
