De World Vapers' Alliance noemt het uitlekken van een belastingverhoging op e-sigaretten een "controversi\u00eble stap". De Britse regering, onder leiding van premier Rishi Sunak, is van plan een accijns van maximaal 251 ton (TP4T) te heffen op e-sigaretten, net als op traditionele sigaretten. Dit plan heeft grote bezorgdheid gewekt onder Britse consumenten, omdat het de vooruitgang die het land heeft geboekt op het gebied van schadebeperking en stoppen met roken dreigt te ondermijnen.<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers' Alliance, uitte zijn ernstige bezorgdheid over de koers van de overheid: \u2019Het lijkt erop dat de Britse regering, in een poging om extra belastinginkomsten te genereren, bereid is de gezondheid van duizenden rokers in gevaar te brengen. Dit is wederom een stap in de verkeerde richting. <\/i><\/p>\n

\u201c"Door minder schadelijke alternatieven voor roken duurder te maken, ontmoedigt de overheid rokers effectief om over te stappen. Deze maatregel zal onevenredig grote gevolgen hebben voor de minder welgestelden en de ongelijkheid in de gezondheidszorg verergeren, vooral in een tijd van stijgende kosten van levensonderhoud."<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

De World Vapers' Alliance stelt dat statistisch bewijs aantoont dat roken een onevenredige impact heeft op lagere sociaaleconomische groepen.<\/p>\n
