President Joe Biden presenteert een ambitieus plan. <\/b>plan om het aantal kankersterfgevallen te halveren<\/b><\/a> De World Vapers' Alliance (WVA) roept de regering-Biden op om zich de komende 25 jaar aan te sluiten bij landen als het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Zweden in het prioriteren van het verminderen van de schadelijke gevolgen van tabak.<\/b>Het 'cancer moonshot'-initiatief van de president is gericht op het terugdringen van het aantal rokers, maar de WVA betoogt dat het veel effectiever zou kunnen zijn door minder schadelijke alternatieven voor roken, zoals vapen, te omarmen.<\/p>\n

Michael Landl, directeur van de WVA, verklaart:, \u201cAls president Biden het menens is met de strijd tegen kanker, dan is het omarmen van maatregelen ter vermindering van de schadelijke gevolgen van tabaksgebruik niet slechts een optie, maar een noodzaak.<\/i><\/b> Zweden en het Verenigd Koninkrijk zijn toonaangevende voorbeelden die de effectiviteit van vapen en andere minder schadelijke producten bij het terugdringen van het aantal rokers hebben bewezen. In plaats van minder schadelijke alternatieven te bestrijden, moet de regering-Biden vapen juist omarmen als hulpmiddel bij het stoppen met roken.<\/i>\u201d<\/p>\n

De regering is van plan 15.15 miljoen dollar te investeren in programma's voor stoppen met roken, met name gericht op het gebruik van menthol- en gearomatiseerde tabak.
