Het rapport, dat naar verwachting later deze week officieel aan de leden van het Europees Parlement zal worden gepresenteerd, doet het Zweedse rookvrije succes ernstig tekort en bedreigt het leven van veel voormalige en huidige rokers in de EU, aldus de World Vapers&#039; Alliance.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Michael Landl, directeur van de wereldwijde consumentenbeweging, gaf de volgende reactie:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201c<em>Het rookvrije succes van Zweden is geen wonder, maar het resultaat van een landelijk, op bewijs gebaseerd beleid ter ondersteuning van het minder schadelijke alternatief voor sigaretten. Sinds de wereld het Zweedse succes met het behalen van de 5%-doelstelling voor rookvrije producten vierde, waren alle ogen gericht op de EU als aanjager van schadebeperking en innovatie. Als de Europese Commissie het snusverbod verder uitbreidt naar nicotinezakjes, brengt zij niet alleen haar eigen rookvrije doelstellingen in gevaar, maar bedreigt zij ook wereldwijd de inspanningen om te stoppen met roken.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Hoewel Zweden er de afgelopen decennia in is geslaagd het aantal rokers aanzienlijk terug te dringen dankzij de uitzondering op het snusverbod van de EU, krijgen nicotinepouches niet dezelfde behandeling en worden ze daarom ook in Zweden bedreigd.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201c<em>Helaas geldt de Zweedse uitzondering voor tabakssnus niet voor snus met nicotine. Als de Europese Commissie en de lidstaten de aanbeveling van het rapport overnemen, zal witte snus ook in Zweden verboden worden. Mannen zijn grotendeels gestopt met roken en overgestapt op snus, terwijl vrouwen die op zoek zijn naar minder schadelijke alternatieven vaker voor witte snus kiezen. Een dergelijk verbod zou vrouwen daarom extra hard treffen.<\/em>\u201d&quot; zo prees Europarlementari\u00ebr Weimers in zijn Twitterbericht.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Vorige maand kondigde Zweden aan dat het de belasting op snus, een rookloos tabaksproduct, met 201 TP4 T zal verlagen, terwijl de belasting op sigaretten en rooktabak met 91 TP4 T zal worden verhoogd.
