Hoewel Zweden de langverwachte doelstelling van een rookvrij land al bijna heeft bereikt, heeft het land opnieuw een progressieve stap gezet om de schade door brandbare tabak te verminderen door de belasting op snus te verlagen.<\/h4>\n

Een rapport dat eerder dit jaar werd gepubliceerd, benadrukte dat het rookpercentage in Zweden rond deze tijd onder de 51% zou dalen en beschreef de aanpak die tot dit succes had geleid. De titel van het rapport was: \u201cVoorop lopen naar een rookvrij Europa: de ervaring van Zweden.,<\/a>\u201dHet document benadrukte de holistische en progressieve aanpak van de landen.<\/p>\n

Zweden heeft het WHO-Raamverdrag inzake tabaksbestrijding, evenals de EU-wetgeving en -aanbevelingen, volgens de hoogste normen ge\u00efmplementeerd, met een grote focus op preventie. Daarnaast heeft Zweden echter ook veel nadruk gelegd op de integratie van strategie\u00ebn voor het verminderen van tabaksschade (THR)<\/a> die het gebruik van nieuwe nicotineproducten, met name snus, goedkeuren. Anders Milton, een van de auteurs van het rapport, benadrukte dat als andere EU-landen de Zweedse strategie zouden overnemen, de situatie in Europa er heel anders uit zou zien.<\/p>\n

Er is druk om strenge beperkingen op te leggen aan snus.<\/h4>\n

Helaas is er grotendeels geen gehoor aan deze gegevens gegeven. De Zweedse volksgezondheidsautoriteit Folkh\u00e4lsomyndigheten negeerde het rapport en heeft afgelopen juli... genaamd<\/a> voor strengere regelgeving voor nicotineproducten zoals snus en e-sigaretten, precies de producten die verantwoordelijk worden geacht voor de indrukwekkende daling van het aantal rokers.<\/p>\n
