De World Vaper's Alliance heeft de nieuwe publicatie van de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie (WHO), waarin het bewijsmateriaal rondom vapen wordt onderzocht, scherp bekritiseerd. De WVA stelt dat de publicatie van het WHO-rapport 'De wereldwijde tabaksepidemie' "opnieuw de krachtige impact van schadebeperking en vapen bagatelliseert en de vijandige houding van de WHO ertegen bevestigt".<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers' Alliance, reageerde op de publicatie met de volgende woorden: \u2019Hoewel het rapport vol staat met vooringenomen, bangmakerij tegen vapen en ongegronde beweringen, is de algehele richting ervan verwarrend. In plaats van prioriteit te geven aan het cruciale doel om het aantal rokers terug te dringen, richt de WHO zich op vapen, wat toevallig het meest effectieve hulpmiddel is om te stoppen met roken.<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, directeur-generaal van de WHO, stelt in het voorwoord dat vapen de inspanningen tegen roken zou ondermijnen, en beweert: "\u201cE-sigaretten zijn schadelijk voor zowel de gebruikers als de mensen in hun omgeving.<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael Landl voegde eraan toe: \u201cHelaas lijkt de WHO de realiteit en wetenschappelijke bewijzen te negeren. Landen die een open en consumentvriendelijke aanpak hanteren ten aanzien van producten voor schadebeperking behalen aanzienlijk betere resultaten dan landen die het misleidende pad van de WHO volgen. Vergelijkende gegevens uit Zweden en het Verenigd Koninkrijk tonen hun opmerkelijke succes aan in het terugdringen van het aantal rokers, waarbij ze landen met een negatieve aanpak voor schadebeperking ruimschoots overtreffen.<\/i>."\u201d<\/p>\n
