Internationale gezondheidsexperts bespraken tijdens een top over schadebeperking de noodzaak om minder schadelijke alternatieven voor nicotineafgifte op een risico-evenredige manier te reguleren, terwijl ze de autoriteiten aanspoorden tot strengere beperkingen voor traditionele sigaretten.<\/p>\n

Vooraanstaande volksgezondheidsdeskundigen, beleidsmakers en mediavertegenwoordigers kwamen zaterdag bijeen op de Bangladesh THR Summit 2023 in het Le Meridian Hotel in Dhaka om de rol van tabakschadebeperking (Tobacco Harm Reduction, THR) te bespreken ter ondersteuning van de visie van de premier op een 'rookvrij Bangladesh' in 2040.<\/p>\n

THR is een strategie voor de volksgezondheid om de gezondheidsrisico's voor individuen en de samenleving als geheel, die samenhangen met het gebruik van conventionele tabaksproducten, te verminderen of te minimaliseren.<\/p>\n

THR vergroot het belang van stoppen met roken, maar voor rokers die niet willen of kunnen stoppen, biedt het gebruik van innovatieve rookvrije technologie\u00ebn een oplossing. Deze technologie\u00ebn leveren nicotine zonder de schadelijke bestanddelen \u2013 rook of teer.<\/p>\n

Momenteel stimuleren het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Zweden, Nieuw-Zeeland, Canada en vele andere progressieve landen wereldwijd het gebruik van dergelijke producten om het aantal rokers terug te dringen door ze te reguleren via een risico-evenredig regelgevingskader.<\/p>\n
