Zweden is wereldwijd het meest succesvol in het terugdringen van het aantal rokers, maar de Zweedse aanpak staat onder druk van de EU en de WHO. Om de Zweedse regering aan te sporen haar consumentvriendelijke aanpak ten aanzien van snus, e-sigaretten en nicotinezakjes te verdedigen, hebben consumenten geprotesteerd voor het Zweedse parlement.<\/p>\n

De World Vapers' Alliance (WVA), een internationale consumentenorganisatie voor e-sigaretten, heeft samen met Zweedse consumenten, eigenaren van vapewinkels en lokale groepen die zich inzetten voor schadebeperking, zoals "EU for Snus" en de "New Nicotine Alliance Sweden", een 5 meter hoge sigaret voor het Zweedse parlement (Riksdag) in Stockholm laten leeglopen. Dit was onderdeel van de bredere campagne #BeatSmokingLikeTheSwedes. De demonstratie benadrukt het succes van Zweden met een verstandig beleid voor schadebeperking ten aanzien van alternatieve tabaksproducten zoals snus, nicotine pouches en e-sigaretten. Bovendien willen de demonstranten de Zweedse regering ertoe aanzetten om haar succesvolle beleid eindelijk te verdedigen tegen aanvallen van de EU en de WHO. Beide instanties willen e-sigaretten en nicotine pouches verder aan banden leggen en snusgebruik blijven demoniseren, waarbij ze het Zweedse antirookwonder en de voorkeur voor nicotinegebruik negeren.<\/p>\n
