Vorige week heeft de World Vapers' Alliance <\/span>gewaarschuwd<\/span><\/a> We hebben jullie op de hoogte gebracht van de inzet van miljardair Michael Bloomberg om zijn desinformatiecampagne over vapen voort te zetten. Volgens een aankondiging van Bloombergs organisatie vorige week is het doel om zich te richten op traditionele antirookmaatregelen, zoals het uitbreiden van waarschuwingslabels en rookvrije zones, en het ondersteunen van diverse anti-vapemaatregelen, zoals verboden op smaakstoffen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maar waarom denkt Michael Bloomberg dat hij het beter weet en de bevoegdheid zou moeten hebben om dit soort besluitvorming op te leggen aan volwassen rokers en vapers?<\/span><\/p>\n

Bloomberg staat erom bekend dingen te verbieden die hem niet bevallen; in 2012, toen ik nog in New York woonde, stelde burgemeester Bloomberg voor om de verkoop van grote, suikerhoudende frisdranken te verbieden. Dit plan werd later verworpen. <\/span>vernietigd in hoger beroep<\/span><\/a> die van mening waren dat Bloomberg zijn bevoegdheden had overschreden.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Andere verboden van Bloomberg omvatten een rookverbod. In 2002 verbood Bloomberg roken in bars en restaurants in New York City, en in 2011 verbood hij roken in de meeste openbare ruimtes, zoals parken en stranden. New York werd ook de eerste grote stad die de verkoop van tabak aan personen onder de 21 jaar verbood.<\/span><\/p>\n

Het is overduidelijk dat Bloomberg een flagrante minachting heeft voor zowel rokers als vapers. Hij negeert de feiten en de wetenschap en behandelt ons als tweederangsburgers. Als Bloomberg echt van het roken in de VS af wilde, zou die $420 miljoen beter besteed kunnen worden aan het aanmoedigen van rokers om over te stappen op een veel veiliger alternatief.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bloombergs tactische filantropie stelt hem in staat zijn verhaal te be\u00efnvloeden en te verspreiden, ongeacht hoe slecht dat ook mag zijn voor ex-rokers die nu afhankelijk zijn van e-sigaretten om van het roken af te blijven.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Dit soort filantropie met grote bedragen doet het publiek meer kwaad dan goed, maar zoals we maar al te goed weten, betekent zelfs gedoneerd geld macht. Gelukkig voor ons vapers is het hem niet gelukt om president te worden, maar zijn tirade tegen alles wat hem niet bevalt gaat door, terwijl hij probeert het leven van mensen tot in de kleinste details te controleren met elk verbod.<\/span><\/p>\n
