Dit is een aanzienlijke daling voor Amerikaanse volwassenen tussen de 18 en 29 jaar, de grootste daling van alle leeftijdsgroepen sinds het begin van het millennium.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/405884\/cigarette-smoking-rates-down-sharply-among-young-adults.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Volgens dit recente jaarlijkse Gallup-onderzoek naar consumptiegewoonten<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Uit onderzoek dat sinds 2001 jaarlijks wordt uitgevoerd, blijkt dat het percentage jonge volwassenen dat rookt drastisch is blijven dalen, en dat hebben we te danken aan e-sigaretten.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sinds 2019 meet Gallup het gebruik van elektronische sigaretten door Amerikanen apart van het roken zelf.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uit deze gegevens blijkt dat 19% van de 18- tot 29-jarigen nu vapen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zelfs <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vapen komt veel vaker voor bij 18- tot 29-jarigen (191%) dan bij oudere leeftijdsgroepen, waaronder 71% van de 30- tot 49-jarigen, 31% van de 50- tot 64-jarigen en minder dan 11% van de 65-plussers. Dit toont aan dat de oudere demografische groep helaas nog steeds de voorkeur geeft aan traditionele sigaretten.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Daarentegen laat Gallup zien dat het marihuanagebruik in dezelfde leeftijdsgroep is toegenomen. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tussen 2019 en 2022 gaf gemiddeld 261 TP4T (van jongvolwassenen) aan marihuana te roken, een stijging ten opzichte van 171 TP4T tussen 2013 en 2015. Meer dan twee keer zoveel jongvolwassenen zeggen nu marihuana te roken als sigaretten. Marihuana roken is ook gebruikelijker onder jongvolwassenen dan vapen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deze resultaten ontkrachten het argument dat vapen een opstapje is naar roken en bewijzen mogelijk zelfs het tegenovergestelde. Volksgezondheidsautoriteiten zouden nu moeten weten dat de bewering dat vapen een opstapje is naar roken onjuist is. Integendeel, het is juist een weg weg van schadelijk roken en zou als zodanig moeten worden geprezen en aangemoedigd.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Je zou verwachten dat volksgezondheidsfunctionarissen bemoedigd zouden worden door de sterke daling van het gebruik van traditionele sigaretten en hun visie en boodschap over veiligere nicotineproducten zouden aanpassen, niet alleen om misvattingen over nicotine bij het publiek te corrigeren, maar ook om dit te promoten als een manier om ouderen te helpen over te stappen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De FDA beweert dat haar boodschap bedoeld is om het gebruik onder jongeren te beperken, maar deze tactiek pakt duidelijk averechts uit. Jonge volwassenen lijken namelijk zelf onderzoek te doen en kiezen voor vapen als een gezonder alternatief, terwijl deze boodschappen &quot;bedoeld voor jongeren&quot; oudere generaties er wellicht juist van weerhouden om dodelijke sigaretten te blijven roken!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the past two decades the smoking rate amongst the American youth has dropped from 35% to 11%.
