Helaas pakt de strategie een van de belangrijkste oorzaken van een slechte gezondheid \u2013 roken \u2013 niet aan. Tabakschadebeperking moet onderdeel uitmaken van een dergelijke strategie om door roken veroorzaakte ziekten te bestrijden.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance, gaf de volgende reactie:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cDe Europese Commissie negeert opnieuw de wetenschap en de stem van de consument. Tabaksschadebeperking moet een essentieel onderdeel worden van al het gezondheidsbeleid in de EU. Jaarlijks sterven zevenhonderdduizend mensen aan de gevolgen van roken, en tegelijkertijd verzet de Commissie zich tegen minder schadelijke alternatieven. De wetenschap is duidelijk: vapen is veel minder schadelijk dan roken en is een van de meest effectieve hulpmiddelen om te stoppen met roken. Consumenten eisen dat de Commissie deze realiteit eindelijk erkent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">De World Vapers&#039; Alliance heeft een <a href=\"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/nl_be\/back-vaping-beat-smoking\/#bvbs-join-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/back-vaping-beat-smoking\/%23bvbs-join-us&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1669903924579000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3L0YfMCol0MCUqIn1jCUYi\">verzoekschrift<\/a> De petitie, ondertekend door meer dan 4.000 EU-burgers en gericht aan de leden van het Europees Parlement, uitte haar bezorgdheid over de negatieve houding ten opzichte van vapen binnen de EU-instellingen. Een gezondheidsstrategie zonder maatregelen ter vermindering van de schadelijke gevolgen van tabak is gedoemd te mislukken vanaf het begin. De Commissie moet zich richten op oplossingen die de volksgezondheid ten goede komen door alternatieven voor schadebeperking zoals vapen en snus te omarmen en de groei van de zwarte markt niet aan te moedigen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Daarnaast uiten consumenten hun bezorgdheid over het uitgelekte plan van de Europese Commissie om de belasting op e-sigaretten te verhogen en vrezen ze negatieve gevolgen voor de volksgezondheid. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/6f1c4211-5e54-4aa8-a391-0ec9bc5244de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/6f1c4211-5e54-4aa8-a391-0ec9bc5244de&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1669903924579000&amp;usg=AOvVaw027-KqJw6CY0t6Yp1RswjZ\">EU-Commissie<\/a> plannen om &quot;de belastingheffing op nieuwe rookwaren, zoals e-sigaretten en verhitte tabak, in lijn te brengen met die op sigaretten&quot;.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cDe Commissie beweert dat hogere belastingen de volksgezondheid zullen verbeteren, maar de realiteit is precies het tegenovergestelde. Een minder schadelijk alternatief, zoals vapen, moet betaalbaar zijn voor gewone rokers die willen stoppen met roken.
