Dit komt van een <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/6f1c4211-5e54-4aa8-a391-0ec9bc5244de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/6f1c4211-5e54-4aa8-a391-0ec9bc5244de&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1669719819236000&amp;usg=AOvVaw176I6ASgEhoVTu1gX9GQLA\">Artikel in de Financial Times<\/a> waarin wordt gesteld dat de Europese Commissie van plan is &quot;de belastingheffing op nieuwe rookproducten, zoals e-sigaretten en verhitte tabak, in lijn te brengen met die op sigaretten&quot;.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Hogere belastingen op e-sigaretten zullen catastrofale gevolgen hebben voor mensen die willen stoppen en zullen een enorme nieuwe zwarte markt voor e-sigaretten in het leven roepen, aldus Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cDe Commissie beweert dat hogere belastingen de volksgezondheid zullen verbeteren, maar de realiteit is precies het tegenovergestelde. Een minder schadelijk alternatief, zoals vapen, moet betaalbaar zijn voor gewone rokers die willen stoppen met sigaretten. Als de Commissie de belasting van roken op de volksgezondheid wil verminderen, moet ze vapen betaalbaarder en toegankelijker maken, niet minder.\u201d.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Een gedifferentieerde belastingheffing op rookwaren en e-sigaretten is voor veel mensen essentieel om over te stappen. Bovendien zijn hoge belastingen op e-sigaretten met name schadelijk voor mensen met een bescheiden inkomen, omdat ze de overstap bemoeilijken, terwijl deze groep juist het grootste deel van de huidige rokers uitmaakt.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cHoge belastingen treffen vooral de meest kwetsbaren. In tijden van meerdere crises en mensen die moeite hebben om rond te komen, is het duurder maken van vapen precies het tegenovergestelde van wat we nodig hebben. Beleidsmakers moeten begrijpen dat belastingverhogingen op vapen mensen terug zullen dwingen naar roken of de zwarte markt, een scenario dat niemand wil. In tijden van crisis mogen mensen niet verder worden gestraft door een onwetenschappelijke en ideologische strijd tegen vapen. Hier moet een einde aan komen\u201d, aldus Landl.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">De World Vapers&#039; Alliance dringt er bij de Europese Commissie en de lidstaten op aan om het wetenschappelijk bewijs te volgen en af te zien van hogere belastingen op e-sigaretten als we de door roken veroorzaakte gezondheidslasten willen verminderen. Toegang tot en betaalbaarheid van e-sigaretten moeten gegarandeerd zijn.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201c&quot;In plaats van vapen te bestrijden, moet de EU eindelijk de schadebeperking van tabak omarmen. Wat we nodig hebben is risicogebaseerde regelgeving.
