Het is een bitterzoet einde aan een lange en prachtige reis door Europa, waarbij we onze boodschap wilden overbrengen aan beleidsmakers en het publiek.<\/strong><\/p>\n

De #BackVapingBeatSmoking bustour eindigde twee weken geleden in Brussel, met een aantal fantastische projecties op het Europees Parlement. Ik heb enorm genoten van de tour en ik ben ervan overtuigd dat we een aantal mensen van gedachten hebben kunnen doen veranderen en hun ogen hebben kunnen openen.<\/p>\n

Het eerste deel van de tour bracht ons van Spanje, Itali\u00eb en Frankrijk naar Duitsland. We streden voor ons recht om te vapen en hadden ook veel plezier.\u00a0Hier<\/a>\u00a0Dit is een samenvatting van de hoogtepunten van het eerste deel van deze reis.<\/p>\n

Turijn, Itali\u00eb<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dus we namen een korte pauze en gingen weer op pad. We begonnen het tweede deel van onze tour in het prachtige Turijn, Itali\u00eb. Daar ontmoetten we zoveel gepassioneerde Italiaanse vapers, van wie velen contact opnamen met hun politici, hun stem lieten horen op sociale media en ons voor de camera vertelden over hun vape-verhalen.<\/p>\n

Tip: Hoewel het moeilijk toe te geven is als Man United-fan, zal het nieuwe Juventus-stadion ongetwijfeld fantastisch worden.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Gen\u00e8ve, Zwitserland<\/strong><\/p>\n

Na Turijn barstte het politieke debat los en ging ik naar Gen\u00e8ve voor de COP9-bijeenkomst van het FCTC van de WHO om onze boodschap aan de afgevaardigden over te brengen in kleine roze doosjes met daarin alles wat je moet weten over #BackVapingBeatSmoking.<\/p>\n

Ik ging naar Gen\u00e8ve in de oprechte overtuiging dat de afgevaardigden naar de COP zich bewust moeten zijn van de enorme voordelen van vapen voor de volksgezondheid. Het stemt me droevig dat het WHO-FCTC zo vaak beslissingen neemt op basis van archa\u00efsche strategie\u00ebn die in het verleden jammerlijk hebben gefaald.<\/p>\n

Helaas, en tegen alle logica in, heeft het WHO FCTC vapers uitgesloten van deelname aan de COP 9-besprekingen, en de demonstratie van de WVA werd snel verwijderd uit de omgeving van het WHO-gebouw. Desondanks hebben we in de hele stad een indrukwekkende selectie van stopverhalen van over de hele wereld getoond, waarvan we er veel tijdens onze bustour hebben verzameld. We zijn er absoluut van overtuigd dat degenen die de toekomst van vapen bepalen, ook moeten luisteren naar degenen die het meest door hun beslissingen worden getroffen: de vapers zelf.<\/p>\n

Ik verliet Gen\u00e8ve met hernieuwd gevoel van doelgerichtheid en veel optimisme voor de volgende bestemming, Brussel.<\/p>\n

We kwamen in Brussel aan met hetzelfde doel: we moeten vapen beschermen tegen onwetenschappelijke en buitensporige regelgeving. Nu het Europese plan ter bestrijding van kanker in de laatste fase zit en een verbod op smaakstoffen dreigt voor vapers in heel Europa, vonden we het belangrijk dat Europarlementari\u00ebrs naar de stem van de vapers luisteren voordat het te laat is. Onze iconische Vape Bus en getuigenissen van vapers werden tentoongesteld voor het Europees Parlement en velen konden de hele dag zien hoe nuttig vapen is voor miljoenen mensen. Tijdens ons verblijf in Brussel spraken we met verschillende Europarlementari\u00ebrs en legden we uit dat smaakstoffen een essentieel onderdeel van vapen zijn. Een verbod zou zoveel negatieve gevolgen hebben en de kans voor velen om voorgoed van de sigaretten af te blijven, verpesten.<\/p>\n

Gelukkig luisteren steeds meer politici en beginnen ze het enorme potentieel van vapen in te zien om kanker definitief te verslaan. Daarom heb ik samen met onze Poolse partner Michalina 7.000 petities aan Poolse politici overhandigd om ervoor te zorgen dat onze stem gehoord wordt.<\/p>\n

Vapers kunnen de wereld veranderen. Mijn standpunten lijken misschien idealistisch, maar ik ben ervan overtuigd dat als we samen strijden voor de bescherming van vapen, miljoenen levens gered kunnen worden \u2013 wel 200 miljoen!<\/p>\n

Politici mogen deze kans niet laten liggen. Onze gemeenschap is sterker dan ooit en de strijd gaat door. De World Vapers' Alliance en ikzelf zullen er alles aan doen om vapers wereldwijd te steunen. Samen kunnen we winnen \u2013 niet alleen voor onszelf, maar ook voor de volksgezondheid in het algemeen. En ik kan u verzekeren dat we er onderweg ook plezier aan zullen beleven!<\/p>\n

Ga zo door met vapen, en ook al is het soms moeilijk, geniet ervan en vergeet niet dat we alleen door vapen te omarmen het roken voorgoed kunnen verslaan!<\/p>\n
