Eind juni lanceerde de Europese Commissie een oproep tot het indienen van bewijsmateriaal over een voorstel om een aanbeveling uit 2009 over rookvrije omgevingen uit te breiden met e-sigaretten en verhitte tabaksproducten.<\/h5>\n

Het doel van de aanbeveling is om alle EU-lidstaten aan te moedigen een verbod op vapen in te voeren. verhitte tabak<\/a> gebruik in diverse openbare ruimten. Hoewel een document ter ondersteuning van de aanbeveling, waarin wordt gesteld dat deze betrekking heeft op "binnen- en besloten ruimten", eraan toevoegt dat beleid voor "buitenruimten, zoals scholen, speeltuinen en horecagelegenheden met terrassen" niet onder de EU-aanbeveling valt, maar dat dit per geval door de regeringen van de afzonderlijke EU-lidstaten moet worden bepaald.<\/p>\n

De Commissie is van plan de aanbeveling te wijzigen in \u201cexpliciet opnemen<\/a> bepaalde buitenruimtes en semi-buitenruimtes in de definitie van rookvrije omgevingen opnemen en de reikwijdte uitbreiden met veiligere nicotinealternatieven zoals vapes en verhitte tabaksproducten.<\/p>\n
