Op maandag 25 juli heeft de Filipijnen de wetgeving inzake e-sigaretten aangenomen. Deze wet heeft tot doel de import, productie, verkoop, verpakking, distributie, het gebruik en de communicatie van damp- en verhitte tabaksproducten te reguleren. Met de aanname van deze wetgeving is de Filipijnen een van de weinige Aziatische landen met progressieve regelgeving voor e-sigaretten, die bedoeld is om volwassen rokers te bevoordelen.<\/p>\n

Met deze ontwikkeling sluit de Filipijnen zich aan bij een groep landen zoals Thailand, Uruguay, Japan, de Verenigde Staten en het Verenigd Koninkrijk die progressieve, op wetenschappelijk bewijs gebaseerde regelgeving inzake tabaksschadebeperking hebben aangenomen. Het belangrijkste aspect van de wet is dat het vapen legitimeert als een strategie om rokers boven de 18 jaar te helpen kiezen voor minder schadelijke, niet-brandbare alternatieven.<\/p>\n

Liza Katsiashvili, communitymanager bij World Vapers' Alliance, zei: "Terwijl de meeste beleidsmakers verkeerd ge\u00efnformeerd zijn en zich tegen vapen verzetten, hebben de Filipijnen de juiste weg bewandeld door vapen te omarmen als een effectieve innovatie voor risicobeperking die levens redt. Andere landen zouden dit voorbeeld moeten volgen en een verstandig vapenbeleid moeten steunen om de volksgezondheid van miljoenen consumenten wereldwijd te verbeteren."\u2019<\/p>\n
