Op maandag 25 juli werd het veelbesproken wetsvoorstel inzake e-sigaretten in de Filipijnen eindelijk aangenomen. Het wetsvoorstel regelt de import, productie, verkoop, verpakking, distributie, het gebruik en de communicatie van e-sigaretten en verhitte tabaksproducten.<\/h5>\n

De Filipijnse wetgeving inzake e-sigaretten<\/a> Dit is een geharmoniseerde versie van Senaatsvoorstel 2239, oftewel de 'Wet op de regulering van verdampte nicotine- en niet-nicotineproducten', dat tot doel heeft de import, productie, verkoop, verpakking, distributie, het gebruik en de consumptie van e-sigaretten en verhitte tabaksproducten (HTP's) te reguleren aan de hand van internationaal aanvaarde normen om burgers te beschermen tegen de gevaren van gereguleerde, ongereguleerde en inferieure producten, en Huisvoorstel 9007, oftewel de 'Wet op de regulering van niet-brandbare nicotineafgiftesystemen'.\u2018<\/p>\n

A recent onderzoek<\/a> Uit een onderzoek dat in de Filipijnen werd uitgevoerd door een Aziatisch onderzoeksnetwerk, bleek dat negen van de tien (90%) lokale rokers een volksgezondheidsstrategie steunen die het gebruik van veiligere nicotinealternatieven zoals e-sigaretten aanbeveelt om te stoppen met roken.<\/p>\n

Het onderzoek, uitgevoerd door ACORN Marketing & Research Consultants in opdracht van consumentenbelangenorganisatie Vapers PH, bevestigde de brede publieke steun voor tabaksschadebeperking<\/a>. "De meerderheid heeft een positieve perceptie, zou overwegen over te stappen op e-sigaretten en verhitte tabaksproducten, en zou graag betere toegang hebben tot accurate informatie over deze producten", aldus ACORN. Gelukkig betekent de aanname van deze wet dat de producten nu legaal en gereguleerd zijn.<\/p>\n
