Deze aankondiging kwam voor velen als een verrassing, vooral omdat Zweden in 2018 de status van rookvrij land had bereikt door het gebruik van een ander nicotinevervangend product toe te staan. Uiteraard protesteerden experts en organisaties die zich bezighouden met tabaksschadebeperking tegen het verbod en wezen ze op de gevolgen die het zou hebben voor ex-rokers.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance (WVA), betoogde dat als de maatregel zou worden ingevoerd, de 150.000 ex-rokers in Zweden die momenteel vapen, gedwongen zouden kunnen worden om weer te gaan roken. &quot;Een verbod op smaakstoffen zou duizenden ex-rokers in Zweden kunnen dwingen om de gewoonte weer op te pakken. Onderzoek toont aan dat vapers meer dan twee keer zo vaak stoppen met roken als ze smaakstoffen gebruiken. Als ze worden verboden, zouden 150.000 vapers \u2013 bijna de gehele bevolking van Uppsala \u2013 hun smaakstoffen verliezen en mogelijk weer gaan roken.
