STOPtober is aangebroken en de Nederlandse overheid moedigt mensen aan om te stoppen met roken om hun leven ten goede te veranderen. Hoewel abrupt stoppen voor sommigen werkt, 95% van rokers<\/a> Mensen die in \u00e9\u00e9n keer proberen te stoppen, slagen daar niet in. Wat vreemd is, is dat de overheid, terwijl ze mensen aanmoedigt om te stoppen, het juist moeilijker maakt door een van de meest effectieve middelen te verbieden: e-sigaretten met smaakjes.<\/p>\n

De wetenschap over vapen is duidelijk: E-sigaretten zijn 95% minder schadelijk dan roken.<\/a> En ze behoren tot de meest succesvolle en effici\u00ebnte manieren voor rokers om te stoppen. Toch stelt de overheid, te midden van een nationale campagne om rokers aan te moedigen te stoppen, voor om e-sigaretten met smaakjes te verbieden in een misplaatste poging om vapen onder jongeren aan te pakken.<\/p>\n

E-sigaretten met smaakjes spelen een belangrijke rol voor rokers die willen stoppen. Volwassen gebruikers die vapen hebben gebruikt om te stoppen met roken, zeggen dat smaken, anders dan tabak, een doorslaggevende factor waren om te voorkomen dat ze weer gingen roken. Door e-vloeistoffen met smaakjes te gebruiken, 230% heeft een grotere kans om te stoppen.<\/a> roken is veiliger dan het gebruik van sigaretten met tabaksmaak.<\/p>\n

Volgens een recent rapport, \u201cWaarom zijn de smaken van e-liquids belangrijk?\u201d<\/a>, Het verbieden van smaakstoffen zou ertoe kunnen leiden dat een kwart miljoen ex-rokers in Nederland weer beginnen met roken. Elke poging om smaakstoffen te verbieden of rokers de toegang tot alternatieven te ontzeggen, moet worden teruggedraaid.<\/p>\n

In 2007 rookte bijna een kwart van de Nederlandse bevolking dagelijks. Dat aantal is gedaald tot 161.400 in 2018 en blijft dalen. Een verbod op e-sigaretten met smaakjes dreigt deze geweldige vooruitgang teniet te doen en het tegenovergestelde effect van STOPtober te bereiken, namelijk het voor rokers juist moeilijker maken om te stoppen.<\/p>\n

Als internationale waarnemer wordt Nederland altijd gezien als een open samenleving, sceptisch ten opzichte van onnodige regelgeving en verboden, maar in dit geval niet. Als de ene tak van de overheid niet met de andere communiceert, krijgen we onlogische regels die het kerndoel van belangrijke gezondheidscampagnes van de overheid ondermijnen.<\/p>\n

In de geest van STOPtober roep ik staatssecretaris Paul Blokhuis op om deze ideologische aanpak te laten varen. Laat dit misplaatste verbod op smaakstoffen varen en werk toe naar het werkelijke doel: het verminderen van de schade veroorzaakt door roken door pragmatische oplossingen te accepteren die een echt positief effect zullen hebben. Dat zou een overwinning zijn voor de volksgezondheid, het pragmatisme en de strijd tegen roken.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
