Twee organisaties, het Consumer Choice Centre en de World Vapers&#039; Alliance, hebben een rapport gepubliceerd waarin ze oproepen tot een einde aan de oorlog tegen nicotine en pleiten voor op bewijs gebaseerde benaderingen in Europa en wereldwijd.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het Consumer Choice Centre en de World Vapers&#039; Alliance stellen dat vapen en andere alternatieve nicotineproducten, zoals nicotinezakjes, als veel minder schadelijk worden beschouwd dan roken.\u2019<em>Toch worden hun levensreddende kwaliteiten voortdurend bekritiseerd om uiteenlopende redenen.<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ze beweren dat tegenstanders van vapen hebben besloten dat het moet worden aangepakt omdat het op roken lijkt en er nicotine in de e-vloeistof zit.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De organisaties stellen dat er zes belangrijke redenen zijn waarom de aanvallen op nicotinegebruik moeten stoppen:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Mensen consumeren nicotine, maar ze sterven aan de gevolgen van roken.<\/li>\r\n<li>Nicotine in nicotinepleisters en -kauwgom is geen probleem, dus waarom zou het wel een probleem zijn bij gebruik via een e-sigaret of in een tabaksvrij zakje?<\/li>\r\n<li>Verslaving is complex en wordt niet opgelost door een oorlog tegen nicotine.<\/li>\r\n<li>Nicotine heeft wetenschappelijk bewezen therapeutische voordelen voor sommige mensen.<\/li>\r\n<li>Misvattingen over nicotine belemmeren de vooruitgang op het gebied van de volksgezondheid.<\/li>\r\n<li>Verbod werkt nooit.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Een reactie op de\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/consumerchoicecenter.org\/stop-the-war-on-nicotine-six-reasons\/\">bevindingen<\/a>, Michael Landl, directeur van de World Vapers&#039; Alliance en mede-auteur van het artikel, zei: \u2019<em>Het anti-vapingdebat zit vol dubbele moraal over nicotine. Als we consequent willen zijn over nicotine, moeten we vapen met dezelfde openheid en aanmoediging benaderen als nicotinevervangende therapie, zoals pleisters. Dankzij innovatie kan nicotinegebruik eindelijk losgekoppeld worden van de schadelijke effecten van roken en zo miljoenen rokers helpen hun gezondheid te verbeteren. En toch wordt nicotine onterecht gedemoniseerd. Hier moet een einde aan komen.<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De organisaties stellen dat het terugdringen van het aantal rokers en hen in staat stellen snel en effici\u00ebnt over te stappen op een minder schadelijk alternatief een topprioriteit moet zijn voor overheden en volksgezondheidsinstanties wereldwijd. Om dat te bereiken, zeggen ze, moet het stigma rond nicotine verdwijnen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>We willen ons nieuwe artikel gebruiken als een feitenoverzicht om veel mythen rondom het nicotineverbod te ontkrachten. De potenti\u00eble voordelen van nicotine moeten worden onderzocht en onpartijdig wetenschappelijk onderzoek moet worden gewaarborgd.,<\/em>\u201d&quot;, voegde Maria Chaplia, onderzoeksmanager bij het Consumer Choice Centre, eraan toe.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het is dringend nodig om deze beweringen te ontkrachten, want &quot;\u201c<em>Meer dan 571.400 respondenten in een enqu\u00eate waren het ten onrechte eens met de stelling dat &#039;nicotine in sigaretten de stof is die de meeste door roken veroorzaakte kankers veroorzaakt&#039;, en zelfs 801.400 artsen geloven ten onrechte dat nicotine kanker veroorzaakt. Deze onjuiste overtuigingen bij het publiek en experts hebben negatieve gevolgen.<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In het Verenigd Koninkrijk heeft vapen geleid tot een opmerkelijke daling van 251% in het roken sinds 2013.
