Le docteur Josep Mar\u00eda Ram\u00f3n Torrell, chef du service de sevrage tabagique de l'h\u00f4pital de Bellvitge, a demand\u00e9 la semaine derni\u00e8re l'\u00e9tablissement d'un classement des produits de nicotine en fonction des risques. Ce classement est n\u00e9cessaire, a-t-il expliqu\u00e9, afin que les consommateurs puissent conna\u00eetre les risques sanitaires li\u00e9s \u00e0 chaque produit et faire des choix \u00e9clair\u00e9s.<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Dans ce classement, expliqua le m\u00e9decin aux journalistes, le tabac \u00e0 combustion devrait \u00eatre le produit de consommation de nicotine le plus risqu\u00e9, avec un score de 100 points. Il proposa que les gommes et les patchs \u00e0 la nicotine obtiennent le score le plus bas (entre 3 et 5 points), tandis que les cigarettes \u00e9lectroniques se situeraient entre 7 et 8 points et le snus et le tabac chauff\u00e9 entre 20 et 30 points.<\/p>\n

Selon le m\u00e9decin, le potentiel de r\u00e9duction des risques des produits alternatifs de distribution de nicotine est \u00e9norme.<\/p>\n

Le docteur Torrell a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que \u201cToute alternative \u00e0 la nicotine actuellement sur le march\u00e9 est 10\u00a0000 fois meilleure que le tabac \u00e0 combustion.<\/i>\u201d, ce qui explique pourquoi il \u201cne comprend pas ceux qui s'opposent \u00e0 ce qu'on propose des alternatives de toutes sortes \u00e0 ceux qui ne veulent pas ou ne peuvent pas arr\u00eater de fumer<\/i>\u201d.<\/p>\n

Selon Torrell, sensibiliser les consommateurs \u00e0 ce sujet pourrait faire de la cigarette \u00e0 combustion un \u201cmarginal<\/i>\u201d Ce produit permettrait de sauver entre 10 000 et 15 000 vies par an en Espagne. \u00bb.<\/p>\n

Concernant les diff\u00e9rentes approches suivies par les pays pour \u00e9radiquer l'\u00e9pid\u00e9mie de tabagisme, le docteur Torrell a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : \u201cIl est n\u00e9cessaire de dissocier la nicotine du tabac, comme le font avec succ\u00e8s certains pays tels que le Royaume-Uni, la Su\u00e8de et la Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande. Il est prouv\u00e9 depuis les ann\u00e9es 1950 que la nicotine n'est pas directement li\u00e9e \u00e0 une quelconque maladie. Ce sont les substituts nicotiniques qui permettent d'arr\u00eater de fumer. Administr\u00e9s en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9, ils ont de meilleures chances de succ\u00e8s pour aider les fumeurs \u00e0 arr\u00eater, ce qui est notre objectif.<\/i>\u201d.<\/p>\n
