Les signataires accusent le commissaire V\u00e1rhelyi d&#039;avancer des affirmations \u201c scientifiquement infond\u00e9es \u201d selon lesquelles les alternatives sans fum\u00e9e seraient aussi nocives que les cigarettes combustibles.<\/p>\n<p>La lettre met en lumi\u00e8re une s\u00e9rie de d\u00e9clarations mensong\u00e8res, notamment l&#039;affirmation du commissaire selon laquelle le vapotage provoque la \u201c\u00a0bronchopneumopathie chronique obstructive\u00a0\u201d (ou \u201c\u00a0poumon du popcorn\u00a0\u201d) \u2013 une affection pour laquelle aucun cas n&#039;est imputable \u00e0 l&#039;utilisation de la cigarette \u00e9lectronique. De plus, en assimilant des produits \u00e0 faible risque \u00e0 des cigarettes mortelles, la Commission est accus\u00e9e de saper le \u00ab\u00a0Plan europ\u00e9en de lutte contre le cancer\u00a0\u00bb et la cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9 des institutions de l&#039;UE.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Landl, directeur de la World Vapers&#039; Alliance, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201c Les experts ont raison de demander des comptes \u00e0 la Commission de la pr\u00e9sidente von der Leyen. Lorsque de hauts responsables mentent sur les risques relatifs de la nicotine, ils trahissent de fait des millions de fumeurs et d&#039;anciens fumeurs. Cette d\u00e9sinformation ne se contente pas de semer la confusion dans l&#039;opinion publique\u00a0; elle prot\u00e8ge l&#039;industrie du tabac en privant les fumeurs europ\u00e9ens d&#039;incitation \u00e0 se tourner vers des alternatives bien moins nocives.
