Messieurs les ministres de la Sant\u00e9,<\/p>\n

Le 16 mars, vous participerez \u00e0 un \u00e9change de vues sur le plan europ\u00e9en de lutte contre le cancer propos\u00e9 par la Commission. En tant que ministre de la Sant\u00e9 et fervent d\u00e9fenseur des politiques de sant\u00e9, vous portez une immense responsabilit\u00e9 envers les patients atteints de cancer et les citoyens europ\u00e9ens de toute l'Union. C'est pourquoi nous vous contactons avant cette r\u00e9union avec la Commission europ\u00e9enne.<\/p>\n

Nous estimons que ce plan ne tient pas suffisamment compte du tabac et des cancers li\u00e9s au tabagisme. En privil\u00e9giant l'abstinence \u00e0 la r\u00e9duction des risques, il emp\u00eache les fumeurs de tenter d'arr\u00eater de fumer gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 de nouveaux produits du tabac, notamment le vapotage.<\/p>\n

Le plan de lutte contre le cancer propos\u00e9 par la Commission sugg\u00e8re de taxer le vapotage de la m\u00eame mani\u00e8re que le tabac, d'interdire le vapotage dans les lieux publics et de traiter les produits de vapotage et leurs ar\u00f4mes comme du tabac. Cette politique est erron\u00e9e et dangereuse.<\/p>\n

Des \u00e9tudes montrent que les vapoteurs ont deux fois plus de chances d'arr\u00eater d\u00e9finitivement de fumer que ceux qui utilisent des patchs ou des gommes \u00e0 la nicotine, et il est scientifiquement prouv\u00e9 que les vapoteurs sont expos\u00e9s \u00e0 0,41 fois le risque de cancer sur toute la dur\u00e9e de vie des fumeurs. En interdisant ces dispositifs, le plan de lutte contre le cancer de la Commission ignore des centaines de milliers de vapoteurs \u00e0 travers l'Europe.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 l'Alliance mondiale des vapoteurs, nous savons que nos 13\u00a0000 vapoteurs et nos 23 organisations partenaires sont tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9occup\u00e9s par l'\u00e9volution de la l\u00e9gislation sur le vapotage au niveau europ\u00e9en. Si l'orientation actuelle de la Commission concernant les produits de vapotage est maintenue, cela entra\u00eenera une augmentation du tabagisme et compromettra les progr\u00e8s r\u00e9alis\u00e9s vers une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 sans cancer. Ce plan aurait \u00e9galement des r\u00e9percussions r\u00e9glementaires importantes dans le monde entier. C'est pourquoi nous vous exhortons \u00e0 vous opposer \u00e0 la version actuelle du plan de la Commission europ\u00e9enne, car elle aurait des cons\u00e9quences catastrophiques pour la sant\u00e9 publique, comme vous pouvez le constater dans le document ci-dessous.<\/p>\n
