Moreover, the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/6f1c4211-5e54-4aa8-a391-0ec9bc5244de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Financial Times <\/a>revealed that the EU Commission plans to \u201cbring the taxation of novel smoking products, such as vapes and heated tobacco, into line with cigarettes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tobacco harm reduction experts and consumer groups alike are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vapingpost.com\/2022\/12\/02\/the-european-union-is-to-propose-the-first-eu-wide-vape-tax\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">highlighting<\/a> that such a tax will not only have a detrimental effect on public health, but also start a massive new black market for vaping products.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Commission claims that higher taxes will improve public health, but the reality is the exact opposite. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vapingpost.com\/2020\/02\/03\/uk-scientists-point-out-once-again-that-vaping-is-safer-than-smoking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">less harmful alternative<\/a>, such as vaping, must be affordable for ordinary smokers trying to quit cigarettes.
