{"id":1030,"date":"2022-02-09T15:53:14","date_gmt":"2022-02-09T20:53:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccwva.wpengine.com\/?p=1030"},"modified":"2022-04-09T03:20:40","modified_gmt":"2022-04-09T07:20:40","slug":"uk-cancer-research-group-welcomes-inclusion-of-e-cigs-in-stop-smoking-guide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/eu\/uk-cancer-research-group-welcomes-inclusion-of-e-cigs-in-stop-smoking-guide\/","title":{"rendered":"UK Cancer Research Group Welcomes Inclusion of E-Cigs in Stop Smoking Guide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this year, e-cigarettes were officially recognized as smoking cessation tools by the UK\u2019s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), and included in their newly released\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/guidance\/ng209\">tobacco guidelines<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The World Vapers\u2019 Alliance (WVA) had welcomed the development. \u201cThe draft<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nice.org.uk\/news\/article\/nice-and-phe-publish-comprehensive-draft-guideline-to-tackle-the-health-burden-of-smoking\">\u00a0new guidelines on how to effectively help smokers to quit<\/a>, published today, state that:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>\u00a0\u2018nicotine-containing e-cigarettes can help people to stop smoking and are similarly effective to other cessation options\u2019 and<\/li>\r\n<li>\u2018people should be able to use e-cigarettes as one of several options to support smoking cessation, if they so choose.\u2019\u201d<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-uk-remains-a-world-leader-in-tobacco-harm-reduction\">The UK remains a world leader in tobacco harm reduction<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Similarly, Yorkshire Cancer Research has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/yorkshirecancerresearch.org.uk\/news\/yorkshire-cancer-research-welcomes-inclusion-of-vaping-products-in-nice-guidelines\">commended the move<\/a>. \u201cWe are delighted to see that vaping products have been included in the NICE tobacco guidelines,\u201d said Dr Kathryn Scott, Chief Executive at Yorkshire Cancer Research. \u201cThe Charity\u2019s goal is for 2,000 more people in Yorkshire to survive cancer every year. With more than 4,500 new cases of cancer linked to smoking in the region each year, helping people to stop smoking cigarettes is vital to achieving this goal.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>World Vapers Association (WVA) Director Michael Landl, said that the UK has been a leader in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vapingpost.com\/2021\/12\/30\/uk-heath-minister-announces-review-of-any-evidence-supporting-snus-ban\/\">endorsing the use<\/a>\u00a0of safer alternatives to reduce tobacco harm, and local smoking rates are reflecting this. \u201cOnce more the UK is setting an example for the world on how to effectively and pragmatically help smokers to quit. The UK authorities are following the evidence and supporting a tool that actually works.
