We hear their stories every day. Don\u2019t we deserve a place at the table?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite international recognition that vaping is less harmful than smoking,\u00a0Canada\u00a0has been slow to embrace vaping as part of its tobacco harm reduction strategy.\u00a0 Last year, over 23,000 Canadians wrote to Health Canada to oppose proposed regulations that would ban all flavours from vaping products, except mint, menthol, and tobacco.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Konstantinos Farsalinos, one of the world\u2019s foremost researchers on the impact of flavours on vaping behaviour released a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=3414126-1&amp;h=862573344&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fthr.ams3.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com%2Fstrapi%2F0cbd3b34cef86dad0032528c324d2f7b.pdf%3Futm_source%3Dbaytoday.ca%26utm_campaign%3Dbaytoday.ca%253A%2520outbound%26utm_medium%3Dreferral&amp;a=study+in+December+2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">study in\u00a0December 2021<\/a>, where he states that \u201cIf [flavour] bans were allowed, it would ultimately drive consumers to tampering, illicitly traded products, towards the black market, or back to traditional cigarettes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSmoke free can include vaping,\u201d said\u00a0Christina Xydous, spokesperson for the vaping advocacy group the Coalition des droits des vapoteurs de Qu\u00e9bec. \u201cFlavours are an important factor in why a smoker chooses to vape.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=3414126-1&amp;h=3423921587&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fmedicalxpress.com%2Fnews%2F2021-11-flavored-e-cigarettes-vapers-cigarettes.html&amp;a=University+of+Waterloo+study\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">University of Waterloo\u00a0study<\/a>\u00a0found that 20 percent of vapers would return to smoking if a flavour ban was introduced and 13 percent reported that they did not know what they would do.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne vaper who goes back to smoking is too many,\u201d said Ms. Papaioannoy. \u201cHealth\u00a0Canada\u00a0needs to correct the misinformation out there about vaping. It is NOT more harmful than smoking. Not one Canadian died last year from vaping.
