Estimados Ministros de Salud,<\/p>\n

El 16 de marzo, mantendr\u00e1n un intercambio de opiniones sobre el Plan Europeo de Lucha contra el C\u00e1ncer, presentado por la Comisi\u00f3n. Como Ministro de Sanidad y ferviente defensor de las pol\u00edticas sanitarias, usted tiene una enorme responsabilidad con los pacientes con c\u00e1ncer y los ciudadanos europeos de toda la Uni\u00f3n. Por ello, nos ponemos en contacto con usted antes de la pr\u00f3xima reuni\u00f3n con la Comisi\u00f3n Europea.<\/p>\n

Creemos que este plan no considera adecuadamente el tabaco ni los c\u00e1nceres relacionados con el tabaquismo. Les cierra la puerta a los fumadores que intentan dejar de usar productos de tabaco novedosos, en particular el vapeo, al priorizar la abstenci\u00f3n sobre la reducci\u00f3n de da\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

El plan de la Comisi\u00f3n contra el c\u00e1ncer ha sugerido gravar el vapeo de la misma manera que el tabaco, prohibirlo en espacios p\u00fablicos y tratar los productos y sabores de vapeo como si fueran el mismo tabaco. Esta es una pol\u00edtica err\u00f3nea y peligrosa.<\/p>\n

Los estudios demuestran que los vapeadores tienen el doble de probabilidades de dejar de fumar definitivamente que quienes usan parches o chicles de nicotina, y existen pruebas cient\u00edficas de que los vapeadores se exponen al 0,41% del riesgo de c\u00e1ncer a lo largo de la vida de los fumadores. Al prohibir estos dispositivos, el plan de la Comisi\u00f3n contra el c\u00e1ncer ignora a cientos de miles de vapeadores en toda Europa.<\/p>\n

En la Alianza Mundial de Vapeadores, sabemos que nuestros 13.000 vapeadores y 23 organizaciones asociadas est\u00e1n muy preocupados por el desarrollo de la legislaci\u00f3n sobre vapeo a nivel europeo. Si se mantiene la direcci\u00f3n actual de la Comisi\u00f3n sobre los productos de vapeo, se producir\u00e1 un aumento de las tasas de tabaquismo y se frenar\u00e1 cualquier avance hacia una sociedad sin c\u00e1ncer.
