This is set to come about due to a compromise brokered by Cyprus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The World Vapers&#8217; Alliance commented: \u201c<i>A leaked draft of the European Council\u2019s updated Tobacco Excise Directive (TED) shows that tax rates on vaping products, nicotine pouches, and heated tobacco are slightly lower than in last summer\u2019s plan presented by the European Commission, but that the overall message remains unchanged.\u00a0The EU still wants to treat less harmful alternatives almost like cigarettes and puts revenue before public health<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michael Landl, the organisation\u2019s Director, told Planet of the Vapes:\u00a0<i>\u201cThey made a tiny step back on the numbers, but the direction is still completely wrong. Nicotine users are treated as cash machines.
