I was particularly excited about this one. The French health agency ANSES clearly <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.anses.fr\/fr\/content\/produits-du-vapotage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">acknowledged <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that vaping carries significantly less risk than smoking. We responded with a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/en_gb\/french-health-agency-confirms-vaping-less-harmful-than-smoking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">press release<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> highlighting the importance of such evidence-based reports from respected health institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, while we are seeing positive developments in France, Australia continues to surprise us &#8211; unfortunately, not in a good way. The WVA has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/en_gb\/australias-vape-prohibition-is-fueling-a-violent-black-market\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">officially submitted<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> its evidence to the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs References Committee, warning that Australia\u2019s restrictive vaping laws are the primary driver of the country\u2019s escalating illicit tobacco and nicotine crisis. Even if expectations are low, we still hope that, one day, policymakers will listen. Read more here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are also concerns about <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/en_gb\/proposed-vape-ban-may-drive-consumers-to-black-market-wva-warns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">developments in Malaysia.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The health ministry is planning to impose a full-scale vape ban, starting with open-pod systems. The justification appears to be that some consumers are misusing these devices with illicit substances. But the real issue is the black market. Illicit products are the result of unregulated trade, and further restrictions on legal products will not solve this problem. Instead of banning legal alternatives, authorities should focus on tackling illicit trade through smarter regulation and enforcement.
