{"id":5602,"date":"2024-04-22T05:35:23","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T09:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/?p=5602"},"modified":"2024-05-15T05:36:21","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T09:36:21","slug":"eu-urged-to-adopt-science-based-strategy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/en_gb\/eu-urged-to-adopt-science-based-strategy\/","title":{"rendered":"EU Urged to Adopt Science-Based Strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Consumer representatives are urging European policymakers to adopt science-based tobacco harm reduction strategies as EU health ministers gather in Brussels for <a href=\"https:\/\/belgian-presidency.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/news\/informal-health-meeting-health-workforce-medicine-supply-prevention-of-non-communicable-diseases\/\">a two-day meeting<\/a> to discuss Europe\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/health.ec.europa.eu\/document\/download\/26fc415a-1f28-4f5b-9bfa-54ea8bc32a3a_en\">Beating Cancer Plan<\/a>, among other topics.<\/p>\n<p>The Beating Cancer Plan presents several legislative initiatives to address cancer risk factors, including measures to reduce tobacco and alcohol consumption and improve healthy diets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis meeting should mark the beginning of driving the EU towards a smoke-free future,\u201d said Michael Landl, director of the World Vapers Alliance, in a <a href=\"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/en_gb\/eu-health-ministers-urged-to-champion-tobacco-harm-reduction\/\">statement<\/a>. \u201cHealth ministers should take inspiration from Sweden, p<a href=\"https:\/\/tobaccoreporter.com\/2023\/06\/02\/sweden-close-to-smoke-free-status\/\">oised to become the first smoke-free country<\/a> in the world, thanks largely to the adoption of safer and less harmful alternatives.
