Additionally, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/smokefreesheffield.org\/get-involved\/campaigns\/vaping-the-facts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a letter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been created for schools to send to parents to explain the information they will be teaching their children. While some countries have banned vapes outright, the UK has taken a more measured approach by seeking to inform the public, particularly young people, about the potential risks of underage vaping.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The animated film and other resources available from ash.org.uk are invaluable tools for educating young people about vaping. By providing children with accurate and balanced information about vapes, they can make informed decisions about whether or not to use them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a more promising way to tackle the issue than moral panic and scaremongering, and additionally in accordance with scientific evidence. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An often ignored explanation for vaping uptake by adolescence is \u201ccommon liability.\u201d In other words, adolescents who are likely to vape are also likely to smoke \u2013 e.g. because of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/1660-4601\/18\/24\/13248\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">personality traits<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.plos.org\/plosmedicine\/article?id=10.1371\/journal.pmed.1003555\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">genetic predisposition<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or social and environmental factors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The UK&#8217;s decision to educate children about vaping rather than banning it outright is a sensible and responsible approach. By providing young people with accurate information, they can make informed decisions about their health.
