This measure received the majority of its funds from billionaire harm reduction denier Michael Bloomberg. $15.3 million raised by the \u201cyes on prop 31 committee\u201d out of the total $17.3 million total has come from Bloomberg.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MikeBloomberg\/status\/1590220528526057472\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bloomberg took to Twitter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to gloat on his victory against \u201cbig tobacco\u201d stating in one tweet \u201cFor years the tobacco industry has preyed on young people, spending hundreds of millions of dollars to market candied-flavored products that are a known gateway to a lifetime of tobacco use, which is one of the leading contributors to disease and death across the U.S.\u201d Refusing to acknowledge that this ban will only push more adults away from harm reduction, and back to deadly cigarettes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Evidence of this fact is the results from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/filtermag.org\/san-francisco-vape-flavor-ban-teen-smoking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">San Francisco\u2019s vape ban<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as statistics clearly show that the ban has increased teen smoking. \u00a0 The article posted by Filter\u2019s Alex Norcia back in June of 2021 referenced the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamapediatrics\/fullarticle\/2780248\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JAMA Pediatrics study <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that found <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">after<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0San Francisco\u2019s ban on flavored vapes and tobacco products, teenagers in the city\u2019s high schools were more likely to take up smoking than teenagers in other US school districts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A lawsuit was already filed by RJ Reynolds and can be read in its entirety <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberglaw.com\/public\/desktop\/document\/RJReynoldsTobaccoCompanyetalvBontaetalDocketNo322cv01755SDCalNov0\/1?1668060899\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We already know bans and prohibition are never a solution and we hope that the flavour ban can be reversed to benefit all of the smokers in California that depend on this technology and more importantly these flavors that keep them off of combustible cigarettes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>California\u2019s Prop 31 will ban in-person sales of flavored tobacco products.
