{"id":1023,"date":"2022-02-25T11:24:04","date_gmt":"2022-02-25T16:24:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccwva.wpengine.com\/?p=1023"},"modified":"2022-04-09T03:19:35","modified_gmt":"2022-04-09T07:19:35","slug":"europe-wishing-up-to-vaping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldvapersalliance.com\/en_gb\/europe-wishing-up-to-vaping\/","title":{"rendered":"Europe wishing up to vaping&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well well well \u2013 I know we are not strictly in the EU now but it is still lovely to see that the EU Parliament has voted to adopt \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/doceo\/document\/TA-9-2022-0038_EN.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Europe\u2019s Beating Cancer Plan<\/a>\u201c.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report was compiled by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/committees\/en\/beca\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Special Committee on Beating Cancer (BECA)<\/a>\u00a0and was adopted by an overwhelming majority of 652 in favour, 15 against and 27 abstentions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The BECA was set up in September 2020 and includes 63 MEPs, 33 Full Members and 30 Substitutes.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Included in this group is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/meps\/en\/124988\/DEIRDRE_CLUNE\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Deirdre Clune<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 representing the Fine Gael Party (Ireland) but sadly no UK representation \u2013 which is kind of expected really.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vote took place on 16th February 2022 and it appears that Vaping has been highlighted as a potential stop smoking tool at last!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report includes this\u2026<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\u201cElectronic cigarettes could allow some smokers to progressively quit smoking\u201d<\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report also recommends risk evaluations to be performed to compare nicotine products to smoking.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Michael Landl of the World Vapers Alliance (WVA) commented the following on the news\u2026<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><em>\u201cFinally, an EU institution acknowledges that vaping helps smokers to quit. That is a significant step forward in our fight to save lives by reducing the harms caused by smoking. It shows the power of the voice of individual consumers coming together.
