Die World Vapers' Alliance (WVA) hat angesichts der Verz\u00f6gerungen bei der Tabakgesetzgebung die EU-Gesundheitsminister zu sofortigem Handeln aufgefordert, um wissenschaftlich fundierte Strategien zur Schadensminderung im Tabakkonsum zu verabschieden. Der Appell erfolgte im Rahmen eines zweit\u00e4gigen Treffens der Gesundheitsminister in Br\u00fcssel.\u00a0EPSCO-Treffen<\/a>\u00a0Der Europ\u00e4ische Plan zur Krebsbek\u00e4mpfung war eines der Hauptthemen der Diskussion.<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n

Im Anschluss an ihre Sitzung einigten sich die Mitglieder des Rates f\u00fcr Besch\u00e4ftigung, Sozialpolitik, Gesundheit und Verbraucherschutz (EPSCO) auf die Tagesordnung f\u00fcr die Mai-Sitzung, die diese Woche stattfand. Erneut lehnten sie es ab, eine Plattform f\u00fcr eine evidenzbasierte Diskussion \u00fcber E-Zigaretten und Tabakschadensminderung zu schaffen.<\/p>\n

Michael Landl, Direktor der WVA, kritisierte die aktuelle Politik mit folgenden Worten:\u00a0\u201cDie EU-Kommission ignoriert die wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse zur Tabakpolitik. Es ist v\u00f6llig klar, dass sicherere Nikotinalternativen wie E-Zigaretten oder Pouch-Zigaretten deutlich weniger sch\u00e4dlich sind als Rauchen und die Raucherentw\u00f6hnung effektiv unterst\u00fctzen. Die EU-Gesundheitsminister haben jetzt die entscheidende Chance, sich f\u00fcr sinnvolle Regulierungen einzusetzen, die j\u00e4hrlich 700.000 unn\u00f6tige Todesf\u00e4lle durch Rauchen verhindern k\u00f6nnten. Der \u201dBeating Cancer Plan\u201c erkennt an, dass E-Zigaretten Rauchern beim Aufh\u00f6ren helfen k\u00f6nnen. Die Politik muss entsprechend handeln.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
