Sie wird au\u00dferdem die Entwicklung neuartiger Produkte zur Aufhebung von \u00dcberdosierungen und Fentanyl-Teststreifen f\u00fcr die Anwendung direkt vor Ort f\u00f6rdern.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Im Jahr 2021 mehr als <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/nvss\/vsrr\/drug-overdose-data.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">107.000 Menschen starben<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> von Drogen\u00fcberdosen. Sie versichert der amerikanischen \u00d6ffentlichkeit au\u00dferdem, dass ihre Arbeit weiterhin auf wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnissen und Transparenz beruhen wird.\u201c\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Warum tut sich die FDA, angesichts ihres offensichtlichen Engagements f\u00fcr Schadensminimierung und Wissenschaft im Zusammenhang mit Drogen\u00fcberdosen und drogenbedingten Todesf\u00e4llen, so schwer damit, die Schadensminimierung beim Tabakkonsum f\u00fcr Erwachsene zu bef\u00fcrworten und zu f\u00f6rdern?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Millionen erwachsener Raucher in den USA suchen nach einer weniger sch\u00e4dlichen Alternative zu Zigaretten. Doch die FDA sendet weiterhin die falsche Botschaft: Sie senkt den Nikotingehalt in Zigaretten drastisch, bewirbt sie als \u201cTabakprodukte mit reduziertem Risiko\u201d und verteufelt Nikotin generell. So werden Raucher diese Alternativen nicht ausprobieren. Die Frage, die sich mir stellt, ist: Wenn Nikotin so sch\u00e4dlich ist, warum hat die FDA im Rahmen ihres PMTA-Verfahrens nur E-Zigaretten mit hohem Nikotingehalt (24 und 50 mg) zugelassen? Diese Entscheidungen erscheinen mir unlogisch, da sie f\u00fcr manche Dampfer keine M\u00f6glichkeit zum schrittweisen Reduzieren des Nikotingehalts bieten. Ein weiteres Problem ist, dass jemand wie ich, der mit 18 mg Nikotin angefangen und jetzt auf 3 oder 6 mg reduziert hat, keine andere Wahl hat, als ganz aufzuh\u00f6ren oder auf eine dieser hochdosierten Optionen umzusteigen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In einer k\u00fcrzlich erschienenen <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/science-health-public-tobacco-industry-regulation-6af0d635d7859bab914cc249ef43b6e2?fbclid=IwAR3-BSNEkjAHHXLbDzscEXLV041-bP123FKm_jrGiDlc7fVkW3XiJkBBJfM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interview<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Der neue FDA-Chef Brian King erkennt zwar den potenziellen Nutzen von Nikotinsalzen an, schweigt aber zu freiem Nikotin, Aromen oder offenen Systemen. Er f\u00fchrt weiter aus, dass \u201cE-Zigaretten \u2013 im Allgemeinen \u2013 ein deutlich geringeres Risiko bergen als herk\u00f6mmliche Tabakerzeugnisse\u201d. Wie will er also die Ablehnung der PMTA-Antr\u00e4ge (99%) f\u00fcr diese Produkte mit der Begr\u00fcndung rechtfertigen, sie seien \u201cnicht gesundheitsf\u00f6rdernd\u201d?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Die FDA scheint mit ausgew\u00e4hlten Strategien zur Schadensminimierung auf dem richtigen Weg zu sein, und Kings j\u00fcngste Aussage l\u00e4sst auf einen m\u00f6glichen Wandel ihrer Haltung zu THR hoffen. Doch werden wir tats\u00e4chlich eine echte Ver\u00e4nderung bei der F\u00f6rderung dieser Technologie erleben, von der wir Dampfer wissen, dass sie uns ein Leben lang vom Konsum herk\u00f6mmlicher Zigaretten absehen l\u00e4sst?
