Die Panamerikanische Gesundheitsorganisation (PAHO), die Tochtergesellschaft der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) in Amerika, hat k\u00fcrzlich ihre <\/span>Bericht zur Tabakkontrolle f\u00fcr die Region Amerika 2022<\/span><\/a>. Darin verkennt die WHO erneut die Rolle, die das Dampfen bei der Verringerung der durch das Rauchen verursachten Sch\u00e4den spielen kann.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Auf fast 150 Seiten des Berichts widmet die WHO ein ganzes Kapitel den sogenannten \u201cneuen und aufkommenden Nikotin- und Tabakprodukten\u201d, in dem sie bereits widerlegte Mythen \u00fcber das Dampfen wiederholt. Der Bericht deutet an, dass die Verbreitung und der Aufstieg elektronischer Nikotinabgabesysteme (ENDS) daf\u00fcr verantwortlich seien, dass \u201cdie Tabakkontrolle weiterhin Priorit\u00e4t und Herausforderung darstellt\u201d. Wenn es der WHO wirklich um die Eind\u00e4mmung des Tabakkonsums und die Unterst\u00fctzung von Rauchern beim Rauchstopp geht, sollte sie die Kriminalisierung von E-Zigaretten beenden und deren Verwendung als Hilfsmittel zur Raucherentw\u00f6hnung f\u00f6rdern. Wie Erfahrungsberichte von Ex-Rauchern weltweit belegen, die auf E-Zigaretten umgestiegen sind, sind diese Ger\u00e4te Teil der L\u00f6sung und nicht der Grund daf\u00fcr, dass Rauchen weiterhin ein Problem f\u00fcr die \u00f6ffentliche Gesundheit darstellt.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dar\u00fcber hinaus manipuliert die WHO, indem sie den Diskurs von Bef\u00fcrwortern des Dampfens angreift und behauptet, dass \u2019<\/span> Begriffe wie \u201dreduzierter Schaden\u201c oder \u201ereduziertes Risiko\u201c stiften Verwirrung und vermitteln ein falsches Sicherheitsgef\u00fchl, obwohl es keine wissenschaftlichen Beweise daf\u00fcr gibt, dass der Konsum sogenannter schadensreduzierter Produkte gesundheitlich unbedenklich ist. Kein Bef\u00fcrworter des Dampfens behauptet, es sei v\u00f6llig risikofrei und man solle es ungeachtet der Folgen konsumieren. Der springende Punkt \u2013 den die WHO offenbar nicht versteht \u2013 ist, dass Dampfen wissenschaftlich erwiesen deutlich weniger sch\u00e4dlich ist als Rauchen. Daher ist der Begriff \u201eSchadensminderung im Tabakkonsum\u201c absolut gerechtfertigt, ungeachtet der Versuche der WHO, ihn zu diskreditieren.<\/span><\/p>\n

Als ob das nicht schon genug w\u00e4re, geht die WHO sogar noch weiter und wagt es, ENDS den Status einer wirksamen Raucherentw\u00f6hnungshilfe abzusprechen. Sie begr\u00fcndet dies damit, dass \u201cdiese Produkte so konzipiert wurden, dass die Nikotinbelastung \u00fcber einen bestimmten Zeitraum exponentiell sinkt (\u2026), aber von den nationalen Beh\u00f6rden weniger streng kontrolliert werden und daher nicht denselben Qualit\u00e4tssicherungsgrad wie zugelassene Nikotinersatztherapien genie\u00dfen.\u201d Das ist falsch. Wie der Name schon sagt, sind die Ger\u00e4te f\u00fcr den sicheren Nikotinkonsum konzipiert, nicht unbedingt zur vollst\u00e4ndigen Nikotinfreiheit. Zudem hat Nikotin nur geringe gesundheitliche Auswirkungen und ist bei anderen Nikotinersatztherapien wie Nikotinkaugummis oder Nikotinpflastern kein Problem. Warum sollte es also beim Dampfen problematisch sein?<\/span><\/p>\n

Mit dem Rauchen aufzuh\u00f6ren ist sehr schwierig, und ohne Hilfe wird es noch schwerer. Schocktherapien helfen oft nicht, und wir k\u00f6nnen von vielen Rauchern nicht erwarten, dass sie von heute auf morgen mit reiner Willenskraft aufh\u00f6ren. Wir wissen, dass sie beim Versuch, mit dem Rauchen aufzuh\u00f6ren, Entzugserscheinungen erleiden und, wenn sie diese nicht \u00fcberwinden k\u00f6nnen, wieder zu Zigaretten greifen werden. Warum helfen wir ihnen nicht, indem wir ihnen eine sicherere und effektivere Methode zur Raucherentw\u00f6hnung anbieten? <\/span>Dampfen ist 95% weniger sch\u00e4dlich als Rauchen<\/span><\/a> und ist <\/span>die effektivste Methode zum Aufh\u00f6ren<\/span><\/a>. Gesundheitsbeh\u00f6rden sollten aufh\u00f6ren zu glauben, dass Raucher nur zwei M\u00f6glichkeiten haben: aufh\u00f6ren oder sterben.
