Sch\u00e4tzungen zufolge sind bereits mehr als 80 Millionen Menschen<\/a> Weltweit konsumieren immer mehr Menschen E-Zigaretten. Dies f\u00fchrt nat\u00fcrlich zu Diskussionen \u00fcber die Auswirkungen auf die \u00f6ffentliche Gesundheit und die Regulierung dieser Produkte. Obwohl in der Wissenschaft weitgehend Einigkeit dar\u00fcber herrscht, dass Dampfen im Allgemeinen weniger sch\u00e4dlich ist als Rauchen, hat sich die Debatte um die Aromen in E-Zigaretten versch\u00e4rft.<\/b><\/h5>\n

Estland, Finnland, D\u00e4nemark, Ungarn und Litauen haben in den letzten Jahren Verbote f\u00fcr aromatisierte E-Zigarettenfl\u00fcssigkeiten erlassen, und weitere L\u00e4nder sind dabei, \u00e4hnliche Ma\u00dfnahmen zu ergreifen. Irland scheint nun als n\u00e4chstes auf der Liste zu stehen. Letzte Woche\u2026 Ausschuss f\u00fcr Gesundheit des irischen Parlaments<\/a>empfahl ein Verbot aller Aromen au\u00dfer Tabak. Angesichts der k\u00fcrzlich ver\u00f6ffentlichten \u201cStand der Tabakkontrolle in Irland<\/a>\u201dDie Einsch\u00e4tzung des Berichts, dass Irland bei den aktuellen Trends sein Ziel der Rauchfreiheit erst 2037 (statt 2025) erreichen wird, ist \u00fcberraschend. Es ist allgemein bekannt, dass Dampfen weniger sch\u00e4dlich<\/a> als Rauchen und eine effektive Raucherentw\u00f6hnung<\/a>Hilfe. Dennoch ist Irland auf dem Weg, einen wesentlichen Bestandteil des Produkts zu entfernen, der bereits Millionen von Menschen beim Aufh\u00f6ren mit dem Rauchen geholfen hat \u2013 n\u00e4mlich die Aromen.<\/p>\n

Das widerspricht Wissenschaft und Lebenserfahrung. Mehr als zwei Drittel<\/a> der erwachsenen Dampfer verwenden Nicht-Tabak-Aromen, und diejenigen, die Aromen verwenden, sind es 230 % h\u00f6here Wahrscheinlichkeit aufzuh\u00f6ren<\/a> Rauchen f\u00fcr immer aufgeben. Dar\u00fcber hinaus stellte die Universit\u00e4t Waterloo fest, dass 5 von 10 Dampfern<\/a> Im Falle eines Aromenverbots w\u00fcrden viele auf illegale Bezugsquellen zur\u00fcckgreifen oder wieder mit dem Rauchen von Zigaretten beginnen. Aus wissenschaftlicher Sicht ist klar: Aromenverbote verbessern die \u00f6ffentliche Gesundheit nicht. Im Gegenteil: Die Einschr\u00e4nkung der Auswahlm\u00f6glichkeiten f\u00fcr Raucher erschwert ihnen den Ausstieg und treibt gleichzeitig viele Dampfer zur\u00fcck zum Rauchen. Das ist alles andere als eine Verbesserung der \u00f6ffentlichen Gesundheit.<\/p>\n

Wenn Politiker schon nicht auf die Wissenschaft h\u00f6ren, sollten sie wenigstens die Erfahrungen anderer L\u00e4nder anerkennen. Estland hat 2020 Aromen verboten, und das Ergebnis war, dass 60% von Dampfern wurde weiterhin verwendet<\/a> Aromen werden durch Mischen ihrer Fl\u00fcssigkeiten oder durch den Bezug auf den Schwarzmarkt ohne Qualit\u00e4ts- oder Sicherheitskontrolle hergestellt. Geschmacksverbot in San Francisco<\/a> Dies f\u00fchrte erstmals seit Jahrzehnten zu einem Anstieg der Raucherquote unter Jugendlichen. Auch dies ist keine wirkliche Verbesserung der \u00f6ffentlichen Gesundheit.<\/p>\n

Erst recht nicht, da der am h\u00e4ufigsten genannte Grund f\u00fcr ein Aromenverbot \u2013 der zunehmende Konsum von E-Zigaretten und sp\u00e4ter auch von Zigaretten unter Jugendlichen \u2013 durch eine solche Ma\u00dfnahme nicht gel\u00f6st wird. Der Zusammenhang zwischen dem Konsum von E-Zigaretten durch Jugendliche und Aromen wird stark \u00fcbersch\u00e4tzt. Friedman, AS et al. (2020)<\/a> Eine Studie ergab, dass \u201cdas Dampfen von E-Zigaretten ohne Tabakgeschmack im Vergleich zu Tabakaromen nicht mit einem erh\u00f6hten Einstieg ins Rauchen bei Jugendlichen, sondern mit einer h\u00f6heren Wahrscheinlichkeit f\u00fcr einen Rauchstopp bei Erwachsenen einhergeht.\u201d Zudem besteht ein h\u00f6heres Risiko, dass Dampfer auf den Schwarzmarkt ausweichen, um unregulierte Aromen zu erwerben. Durch ein Verbot von Aromen verfehlen Politiker somit ein nicht existierendes Problem und erschweren Erwachsenen den Rauchstopp.<\/p>\n

Und schlie\u00dflich, wenn Wissenschaft und Realit\u00e4t Politiker nicht \u00fcberzeugen k\u00f6nnen, vielleicht der gesunde Menschenverstand. Es ist ganz einfach: Auch Erwachsene m\u00f6gen Geschmack. Kein Erwachsener m\u00f6chte sich auf eine einzige Eissorte beschr\u00e4nken. Wir brauchen Auswahl und Vielfalt bei Eissorten, aber auch bei Mitteln zur Raucherentw\u00f6hnung. Aromen erh\u00f6hen zudem die Attraktivit\u00e4t von Nikotinkaugummi. Wenn sie bei Kaugummis unproblematisch sind, sollten sie auch f\u00fcr Dampfer verf\u00fcgbar sein. Dr. Colin Mendelsohn, Experte f\u00fcr Raucherentw\u00f6hnung, gefunden<\/a>\u201cEine Einschr\u00e4nkung der Aromen wird das Dampfen unter Jugendlichen kaum beeinflussen, aber die Attraktivit\u00e4t des Dampfens f\u00fcr erwachsene Raucher verringern.\u201d W\u00fcrde man nur Tabakgeschmack zulassen, w\u00fcrden viele Dampfer diesen nicht lange m\u00f6gen (\u201cGeschmackserm\u00fcdung\u201d) und Raucher w\u00fcrden um eine deutlich schmackhaftere (und weniger sch\u00e4dliche) Alternative zu Zigaretten gebracht. Klingt das sinnvoll? Nicht wirklich, aber zum Gl\u00fcck gibt es auch positive Beispiele f\u00fcr evidenzbasierte Ma\u00dfnahmen.<\/p>\n

Die schwedische Regierung stand kurz davor, ebenfalls ein Aromenverbot einzuf\u00fchren, doch das Parlament lehnte es nach heftigen Protesten ab. Gegenreaktion der Verbraucher<\/a> und Bef\u00fcrworter der Schadensminimierung. Sogar das Europ\u00e4ische Parlament r\u00e4umte Anfang des Jahres bei der Verabschiedung des europ\u00e4ischen Gesetzes zur Raucherentw\u00f6hnung erstmals ein, dass E-Zigaretten Menschen beim Rauchstopp helfen k\u00f6nnen. Es ist an der Zeit, die Debatte um Aromen in E-Zigaretten wieder auf wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse und Vernunft zu stellen. L\u00e4nder wie Irland sollten dem Beispiel fortschrittlicher L\u00e4nder mit Fokus auf Schadensminimierung wie Gro\u00dfbritannien oder Schweden folgen, auf die Wissenschaft h\u00f6ren und die Erfahrungen von Millionen Konsumenten nicht l\u00e4nger ignorieren. Wenn Politiker die \u00f6ffentliche Gesundheit verbessern wollen, muss die Aromenverbotswelle in Europa ein Ende haben.<\/p>\n
