Die 2014 verabschiedete Tabakproduktrichtlinie (TPD) enth\u00e4lt Bestimmungen zur \u201eHerstellung, Aufmachung und zum Verkauf von Tabak und verwandten Produkten\u201c (Europ\u00e4ische Kommission, 2021). Seit Mai 2016 gilt in der Europ\u00e4ischen Union die Tabakproduktrichtlinie (TPD), die Werbebeschr\u00e4nkungen sowie neue Sicherheits- und Kennzeichnungsstandards f\u00fcr E-Zigarettenprodukte enth\u00e4lt. Derzeit diskutiert die EU \u00fcber die n\u00e4chste TPD-Reform und die Einbeziehung neuer Nikotinalternativen. Leider scheint die EU ihren feindseligen und ungerechtfertigten Angriff auf E-Zigaretten und andere schadensmindernde Produkte fortsetzen zu wollen. Geschmacksverbote, h\u00f6here Steuern und weitere Beschr\u00e4nkungen stehen auf dem Tisch. Daher hat die World Vapers\u2018 Alliance (WVA) ihre eigene \u201eVaping Products Directive\u201c (VPD) entworfen. Die VPD basiert auf wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnissen und Richtlinien zur Schadensminderung.
