W\u00e4hrend diese L\u00e4nder echte Ergebnisse erzielen und Leben retten, verharrt die EU abseits und h\u00e4lt an prohibitionistischem Denken und \u00fcberholten Taktiken fest. Europa steht vor einer entscheidenden Wahl: Wird es endlich von seinen Vorbildern lernen oder weiterhin auf gescheiterte Strategien setzen?<\/p>\n<p>Schweden hat Geschichte geschrieben als weltweit erstes offiziell rauchfreies Land. Nur 4,51 % der in Schweden geborenen Erwachsenen rauchen \u2013 eine Quote, die f\u00fcnfmal niedriger ist als der europ\u00e4ische Durchschnitt und 16 Jahre vor dem EU-Ziel erreicht wurde. Dies gelang nicht durch ein Verbot, sondern durch die F\u00f6rderung sichererer Alternativen wie Snus, Pouches und E-Zigaretten und deren Zug\u00e4nglichkeit f\u00fcr Raucher. Auch Tschechien hat eine Vorreiterrolle eingenommen und dank pragmatischer, wissenschaftlich fundierter Ma\u00dfnahmen die Raucherquote innerhalb von nur drei Jahren um 231 % gesenkt. Anstatt auf Geschmacksverbote oder \u00fcberh\u00f6hte Steuern zu setzen, haben tschechische Politiker Raucher dazu ermutigt, auf weniger sch\u00e4dliche Produkte umzusteigen. Griechenland, einst einer der Raucher-Hotspots Europas, konnte im gleichen Zeitraum die Raucherquote um 141 % senken, indem es die Schadensminimierung in den Mittelpunkt seiner nationalen Strategie stellte.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Schweden hat Geschichte geschrieben als weltweit erste offiziell rauchfreie Nation: Nur 4,51 % der in Schweden geborenen Erwachsenen rauchen \u2013 eine Quote, die f\u00fcnfmal niedriger ist als der europ\u00e4ische Durchschnitt und 16 Jahre vor dem Ziel der EU erreicht wurde.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Doch anstatt aus diesen Erfolgen zu lernen, scheint die EU-F\u00fchrung entschlossen, sie zu ignorieren. Br\u00fcssel verfolgt weiterhin Verbote, h\u00f6here Steuern und Beschr\u00e4nkungen, die seit Jahrzehnten gescheitert sind.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/health\/2025\/06\/23\/vaping-is-big-tobaccos-revenge-taoiseach-tells-health-conference\/\">Kommentare<\/a>\u00a0Die \u00c4u\u00dferungen des irischen Premierministers Miche\u00e1l Martin, der bald die EU-Ratspr\u00e4sidentschaft \u00fcbernehmen wird, sind ein gutes Beispiel daf\u00fcr. Verbotspolitiken wie Aromaverbote haben lediglich zu vermehrtem Rauchen und einem florierenden Schwarzmarkt gef\u00fchrt. \u00dcberm\u00e4\u00dfige Steuern treiben die Menschen von sichereren Alternativen zur\u00fcck zu Zigaretten.<\/p>\n<p>Die bevorstehende \u00dcberarbeitung der Tabakproduktrichtlinie (TPD) bietet der EU eine einmalige Chance, umzusteuern und endlich eine Strategie zu verfolgen, die die \u00f6ffentliche Gesundheit und die Wahlfreiheit der Verbraucher in den Vordergrund stellt. Die Devise ist klar: Fakten statt Angst. Schwedens Erfolg im rauchfreien Raum beweist, dass sicherere Alternativen der effektivste Weg sind, mit dem Rauchen aufzuh\u00f6ren. Die EU muss aufh\u00f6ren, Panik zu sch\u00fcren, und stattdessen Anreize f\u00fcr den Umstieg auf weniger sch\u00e4dliche Produkte schaffen. Die Kommission muss zudem der Verbreitung von Fehlinformationen ein Ende setzen und sicherstellen, dass die Politik die von Experten best\u00e4tigte Realit\u00e4t widerspiegelt, die wiederholt festgestellt haben, dass Dampfen deutlich weniger sch\u00e4dlich ist als Rauchen.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Prohibitionistische Ma\u00dfnahmen, wie beispielsweise Geschmacksverbote, haben lediglich zu vermehrtem Rauchen und einem florierenden Schwarzmarkt gef\u00fchrt.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Am wichtigsten ist, dass die EU die Verbraucher in den Mittelpunkt ihrer Politik stellt. Die Erfolge in Schweden, Griechenland und Tschechien zeigen, dass Erwachsene positiv reagieren, wenn ihnen echte Wahlm\u00f6glichkeiten und ehrliche Informationen geboten werden. Der Schutz von Aromen, die Ablehnung \u00fcberh\u00f6hter Steuern und die Zulassung wahrheitsgem\u00e4\u00dfer Informationen zur Risikominderung sind unerl\u00e4sslich, um mehr Menschen zu einem dauerhaften Rauchstopp zu verhelfen.<\/p>\n<p>Europa braucht keine leeren Parolen mehr; es braucht den Mut, Bew\u00e4hrtes zu \u00fcbernehmen. Mit Beginn des \u00dcberarbeitungsprozesses der TPD steht die EU vor einer einfachen, aber entscheidenden Wahl: sich den anderen Vorreitern anzuschlie\u00dfen oder weiterhin Menschenleben durch starre Dogmen zu verlieren.
