Br\u00fcssel, 17. Juni 2025<\/strong> Die World Vapers' Alliance (WVA) hat eine offener Brief<\/a> Ein Schreiben an die europ\u00e4ischen Gesundheitsminister im Vorfeld der EPSCO-Ratssitzung dieser Woche, in der die Zukunft der Tabak- und Nikotinpolitik er\u00f6rtert wird, fordert die Entscheidungstr\u00e4ger auf, der Schadensminderung Priorit\u00e4t einzur\u00e4umen und sicherzustellen, dass erwachsene Raucher Zugang zu sichereren Alternativen wie E-Zigaretten und Nikotinbeuteln haben.<\/p>\n

L\u00e4nder wie Schweden, Tschechien und Griechenland sind Vorreiter bei der Schadensminimierung und dienen dem Rest Europas als Vorbild. Schweden steht kurz davor, das erste rauchfreie Land Europas zu werden. Griechenland konnte die Raucherquote um sechs Prozentpunkte deutlich senken, w\u00e4hrend Tschechien zwischen den j\u00fcngsten Eurobarometer-Erhebungen einen R\u00fcckgang um sieben Prozentpunkte verzeichnete.<\/p>\n

Michael Landl, Direktor der World Vapers' Alliance, erkl\u00e4rte:<\/p>\n

\u201cDie unerbittlichen Angriffe auf E-Zigaretten und andere Nikotinprodukte m\u00fcssen aufh\u00f6ren. Diese Produkte sind die L\u00f6sung, nicht das Problem. Die Beispiele aus Schweden, Tschechien und Griechenland sind eindeutig: Die F\u00f6rderung von Schadensminimierung rettet Leben und beschleunigt den Fortschritt hin zu einer rauchfreien Zukunft. Es ist an der Zeit, dass alle europ\u00e4ischen L\u00e4nder diesen Erfolgsgeschichten folgen.\u201d

\u201cDie Beweislage ist erdr\u00fcckend: Schadensminderung funktioniert. Schweden, Tschechien und Griechenland haben dies bewiesen. Diese L\u00e4nder f\u00f6rdern sicherere Nikotinprodukte durch Strategien zur Schadensminderung und waren damit erfolgreich. Die europ\u00e4ischen Staats- und Regierungschefs haben jetzt die Chance, das Rauchen zu beenden. Der Weg ist klar. Jetzt m\u00fcssen die politischen Entscheidungstr\u00e4ger handeln.\u201d

Der offene Brief unterstreicht die Bedeutung evidenzbasierter Regulierung und warnt vor Ma\u00dfnahmen, die unbeabsichtigt die Raucherquote erh\u00f6hen k\u00f6nnten, indem sie den Zugang Erwachsener zu E-Zigaretten und anderen Produkten mit reduziertem Risiko einschr\u00e4nken.
