Die gestrige Ver\u00f6ffentlichung der Weltgesundheitsorganisation \u201cBericht zur globalen Tabakepidemie, 2023<\/a>\u201duntersch\u00e4tzt einmal mehr die starke Wirkung von Schadensminimierung und E-Zigaretten und bekr\u00e4ftigt damit die ablehnende Haltung der WHO dazu.\u201c.<\/p>\n

Michael Landl, Direktor der World Vapers' Alliance, antwortete:<\/p>\n

\u201cObwohl der Bericht voller einseitiger Panikmache gegen E-Zigaretten und unbegr\u00fcndeter Behauptungen ist, ist seine Gesamtaussage verwirrend. Anstatt dem entscheidenden Ziel der Senkung der Raucherquoten Priorit\u00e4t einzur\u00e4umen, konzentriert sich die WHO auf das Dampfen, das zuf\u00e4lligerweise das wirksamste verf\u00fcgbare Mittel zur Raucherentw\u00f6hnung ist.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Generaldirektor der WHO, betont im Vorwort, dass das Dampfen die Bem\u00fchungen zur Raucherentw\u00f6hnung untergraben w\u00fcrde, und behauptet: \u201cE-Zigaretten sind sowohl f\u00fcr die Konsumenten als auch f\u00fcr die Menschen in ihrer Umgebung sch\u00e4dlich.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDie \u00fcberholten und widerlegten Theorien des WHO-Berichts bergen Risiken f\u00fcr die \u00f6ffentliche Gesundheit. Die Annahme eines Einstiegseffekts vom Dampfen zum Rauchen entbehrt jeglicher Grundlage. Zudem sind Aromen f\u00fcr Erwachsene unerl\u00e4sslich, da sie Millionen von Rauchern den Umstieg auf das Dampfen erleichtern. Dar\u00fcber hinaus ist es absurd, L\u00e4nder zu feiern, die eine deutlich weniger sch\u00e4dliche Alternative f\u00fcr Raucher verbieten.\u201d<\/em> Landl erkl\u00e4rte.<\/p>\n

Laut einem \u00dcberpr\u00fcfung von f\u00fcnfzehn Studien,<\/a> \u201cEin echter Einstiegseffekt bei Jugendlichen konnte bisher nicht nachgewiesen werden.\u201d Faktoren wie Angstzust\u00e4nde, das Rauchverhalten der Eltern, die Einstellung von Gleichaltrigen und das Haushaltseinkommen m\u00fcssen ber\u00fccksichtigt werden. Studie<\/a> Eine Studie ergab, dass Dampfen nicht der Einstieg ins Rauchen ist, sondern dass negative Lebensumst\u00e4nde von Jugendlichen zu riskantem Verhalten f\u00fchren. \u201cDer Mangel an Empathie f\u00fcr Raucher und Dampfer, gepaart mit der kategor Leugnung wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse, wird schwerwiegende Folgen f\u00fcr viele Menschenleben haben. Die WHO scheint ihr oberstes Ziel \u2013 die Senkung der Raucherquote \u2013 aus den Augen verloren zu haben. Wir sind uns zwar alle einig, dass Jugendliche nicht rauchen oder dampfen sollten, doch der Bericht stellt fest, dass nur 451 L\u00e4nder den Verkauf von E-Zigaretten an Minderj\u00e4hrige verbieten und 101 L\u00e4nder keine Altersbeschr\u00e4nkungen f\u00fcr den Zigarettenkauf festlegen. Warum werden diese realen Herausforderungen nicht angegangen? Die WHO ignoriert systematisch eine F\u00fclle wissenschaftlicher Belege f\u00fcr die Vorteile des Dampfens, ganz zu schweigen von den Erfahrungen von Millionen von Dampfern. Dampfen ist 951 % weniger sch\u00e4dlich als Rauchen und eine effektivere Methode zur Raucherentw\u00f6hnung als herk\u00f6mmliche Produkte wie Kaugummi und Pflaster.
