Juni veranstaltete der Unterausschuss f\u00fcr \u00f6ffentliche Gesundheit (SANT) eine Anh\u00f6rung zum Thema \u201cPr\u00e4vention nicht\u00fcbertragbarer Krankheiten\u201d, um m\u00f6gliche L\u00f6sungsans\u00e4tze zu er\u00f6rtern. Da der Nikotinkonsum eines der zentralen Themen der Diskussion war, wird deutlich, dass unter den EU-Entscheidungstr\u00e4gern immer noch viele Fehlinformationen und tiefsitzende Vorurteile gegen\u00fcber Ma\u00dfnahmen zur Schadensminimierung herrschen, so Michael Landl, Direktor der World Vapers&#039; Alliance, einem Verband, der sich weltweit f\u00fcr die Belange von Dampfern einsetzt.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201e<em>W\u00e4hrend nicht\u00fcbertragbare Krankheiten wie Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen, chronische Lungenerkrankungen und Krebs im Mittelpunkt der EU-Gesundheitsagenda stehen sollten, ist es ebenso wichtig, evidenzbasierte und wissenschaftlich fundierte Ans\u00e4tze zu verfolgen. Wir m\u00fcssen die tats\u00e4chlichen Sch\u00e4den reduzieren und nicht den Nikotinkonsum an sich bek\u00e4mpfen. Die eigentliche Bedrohung f\u00fcr die \u00f6ffentliche Gesundheit geht vom Zigarettenrauchen aus. Alternative Produkte wie Snus, E-Zigaretten und Nikotinbeutel reduzieren rauchbedingte Krankheiten, da sie Rauchern effektiv beim Aufh\u00f6ren helfen. Den Nikotinkonsum anstelle der tats\u00e4chlichen Sch\u00e4den zu bek\u00e4mpfen, wird weitaus sch\u00e4dlichere Folgen haben.,<\/em>\u201d sagte Michael Landl.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Unter den angesprochenen Missverst\u00e4ndnissen \u00fcber die Rolle der Schadensminderung stachen die Kommentare der Europaabgeordneten Gonz\u00e1lez Casares und Trillet-Lenoir besonders hervor. Europaabgeordnete Gonz\u00e1lez Casares kommentierte: \u201c<em>Eines wissen wir sicher: Rauchen verschlimmert alles und erh\u00f6ht die Sterblichkeit durch Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen. Was wir hier geh\u00f6rt haben, ist eine Verteidigung von Techniken oder Ger\u00e4ten im Kontext des allgemeinen Tabakkonsums. Vor nicht allzu langer Zeit wurde das Dampfen in einigen Bundesstaaten verboten. Manche behaupten, es helfe beim Aufh\u00f6ren, aber Pr\u00e4vention bedeutet, dass Menschen gar nicht erst mit dem Rauchen anfangen \u2013 und genau dieses Risiko sollten wir nicht eingehen.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Die Europaabgeordnete V\u00e9ronique Trillet-Lenoir kommentierte: \u201c<em>Wir sind hier, um uns ernsthaft und auf wissenschaftlicher Basis mit dem Thema \u00f6ffentliche Gesundheit auseinanderzusetzen.\u201d Dennoch ging MEP auf die Studie \u00fcber die Rolle von Nikotin und Snus bei der Raucherentw\u00f6hnung ein, \u201cda es sich eindeutig um die F\u00f6rderung des sch\u00e4dlichen Produkts handelt, das vielleicht nicht so krebserregend ist wie Tabak, aber dennoch sch\u00e4dlich.\u201c.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201e<em>Zahlreiche Studien, die breite Zustimmung der Verbraucher und Beispiele aus der Praxis, wie etwa das Erreichen des schwedischen Ziels der Rauchfreiheit 17 Jahre vor dem EU-Ziel, sind starke Belege daf\u00fcr, dass Schadensminderung funktioniert und bei der Pr\u00e4vention nicht\u00fcbertragbarer Krankheiten erfolgreich sein kann.<\/em>\u201d f\u00fcgte Landl hinzu.\u201c.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Im Anschluss an die heutige Diskussion fordert die World Vapers Alliance den SANT-Ausschuss auf, die BECA-Schlussfolgerung zu pr\u00fcfen und Instrumente zur Schadensminderung zu ber\u00fccksichtigen.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Die World Vapers&#039; Alliance hat ein umfassendes Informationsblatt zur Schadensminimierung ver\u00f6ffentlicht, das eine Zusammenstellung wissenschaftlicher Studien zu Nikotinkonsum, der Rolle von Aromen in E-Zigaretten und den Auswirkungen der Besteuerung auf die \u00f6ffentliche Gesundheit enth\u00e4lt.
