Viele Aktivisten der E-Zigaretten-Bewegung glauben, dass ein Grund f\u00fcr die meisten Missverst\u00e4ndnisse \u00fcber das Dampfen in der Berichterstattung der Medien liegt. Die \u00d6ffentlichkeit wird st\u00e4ndig mit Behauptungen konfrontiert, dass Dampfen Erektionsst\u00f6rungen verursacht, zur Erblindung f\u00fchrt oder EVALI ausl\u00f6st. Gleichzeitig wird kaum dar\u00fcber berichtet, dass rund 82 Millionen Raucher dank des Dampfens mit dem Rauchen aufh\u00f6ren konnten. Einer der bedeutendsten Erfolge im Bereich der \u00f6ffentlichen Gesundheit der letzten Jahrzehnte bleibt von gro\u00dfen Teilen der Bev\u00f6lkerung und Entscheidungstr\u00e4gern gleicherma\u00dfen unbemerkt. Stattdessen erh\u00e4lt jede unseri\u00f6se Studie oder Umfrage enorme mediale Aufmerksamkeit, w\u00e4hrend jeder wahrheitsgem\u00e4\u00dfe und aufschlussreiche Bericht ignoriert wird.<\/p>\n

Ich wurde neugierig und wollte \u00fcberpr\u00fcfen, ob diese Hypothese tats\u00e4chlich stimmt. Wie die meisten Aktivisten habe ich einen Google-Alert mit dem Wort \u201cVaping\u201d eingerichtet und beschlossen, eine Woche lang (23.4.22-1.5.22) zu \u00fcberpr\u00fcfen, welche Art von Artikeln ich durch den Alert erhalte (Hier<\/a> (Die vollst\u00e4ndige Liste finden Sie hier.) Dies ist nat\u00fcrlich keine wissenschaftliche Studie. Es ist vielmehr meine Einsch\u00e4tzung der Berichterstattung \u2013 daher wahrscheinlich etwas subjektiv. Nichtsdestotrotz finde ich sie interessant.<\/p>\n

Meinen Recherchen zufolge waren \u00fcber 401 der Artikel negativ, und ich muss zugeben, dass ich etwas \u00fcberrascht war, da ich mit mehr negativen Berichten gerechnet hatte. Von den 41 Artikeln waren 291 neutral und 291 positiv.<\/p>\n

Ich habe diese Woche zuf\u00e4llig ausgew\u00e4hlt, alle Artikel hinter Bezahlschranken, reine Wirtschaftsberichte, Werbung und Pressemitteilungen ausgeschlossen und Artikel, die in verschiedenen Medien erschienen sind, nicht doppelt gez\u00e4hlt. Die Artikel habe ich ausschlie\u00dflich danach kategorisiert, wie sie das Thema behandelten, nicht danach, ob ich der jeweiligen Aussage oder der politischen Ma\u00dfnahme zustimmen w\u00fcrde. Das bedeutet: Werden beide Seiten fair dargestellt oder nur die Gegner des Dampfens?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Obwohl ich noch mehr Negativit\u00e4t erwartet hatte, ist die aktuelle Berichterstattung \u00fcber das Dampfen in den Medien problematisch \u2013 sowohl f\u00fcr die \u00f6ffentliche Gesundheit als auch f\u00fcr die Konsumenten. Wenn sich die Regierungen an die wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse halten w\u00fcrden, 200 Millionen Leben<\/a> Weltweit lie\u00dfe sich viel erreichen, wenn man dem Beispiel Gro\u00dfbritanniens folgen und Raucher zum Umstieg auf E-Zigaretten ermutigen w\u00fcrde. Stattdessen ist der Gro\u00dfteil der Berichterstattung \u00fcber E-Zigaretten negativ. Panikmache und Informationsmangel schaden Rauchern, die durch Fehlinformationen verunsichert sind und deshalb nicht von sch\u00e4dlichen Zigaretten umsteigen wollen. Diese ablehnende Haltung gegen\u00fcber E-Zigaretten schadet auch Hunderttausenden Aktivisten weltweit und erschwert deren Ziel, m\u00f6glichst vielen Menschen den Rauchstopp zu erm\u00f6glichen.<\/p>\n
