14.11.2025, Bruxelles \u2013 Flere EU-medlemsstater har protesteret mod ekstreme anti-vaping- og anti-nikotin-foranstaltninger, hvilket har f\u00f8rt til et bem\u00e6rkelsesv\u00e6rdigt skift i EU's officielle holdning forud for det kommende m\u00f8de i WHO's rammekonvention om tobakskontrol (COP11) i Gen\u00e8ve. Afsl\u00f8ret af \u201cRensning af luften<\/a>,"EU-landene blev enige om ikke at st\u00f8tte nogen forbud under COP11.<\/p>\n

Det betyder, at EU nu ikke vil v\u00e6re i stand til at st\u00f8tte COP-resolutioner, der indeholder formuleringer, der tillader produktforbud.<\/p>\n

Michael Landl, direkt\u00f8r for World Vapers' Alliance (WVA), sagde:<\/p>\n

\u201c"Dette skift i EU's holdning er en betydelig sejr for sund fornuft. Det markerer en klar afvisning af ubegrundede forbud forkl\u00e6dt som sundhedspolitik.". <\/em>Forbrugere og fornuftige regeringer har modarbejdet dette og sikret, at lovgivningssprog afspejler virkeligheden i stedet for ideologi. Dette er et vigtigt skridt til at bevare adgangen til mindre skadelige nikotinprodukter, som millioner af mennesker er afh\u00e6ngige af.<\/em><\/strong> Selvom det v\u00e6rste er blevet undg\u00e5et, g\u00e5r den endelige holdning stadig ikke langt nok til at beskytte forbrugernes valg og fremme skadesreduktion.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Ikke desto mindre er den voksende modstand i EU mod Kommissionens holdning til skadesreduktion opmuntrende. Medlemsstaterne skal fastholde denne evidensbaserede tilgang under kommende regulatoriske dr\u00f8ftelser, herunder EU's plan for hjerte-kar-sundhed og revisioner af direktiverne om tobaksafgifter og tobaksvarer.<\/p>\n

Mens hardliners i Kommissionen, WHO og Bloomberg-finansierede grupper fortsat fremmer en ideologi, der ignorerer videnskab, viser dette skift i EU's holdning til COP11, at deres indflydelse ikke er absolut.
