In reactie op de aankondiging wezen experts op het gebied van tabaksschadebeperking erop dat de overheid, door vapen minder toegankelijk te maken, het risico loopt veel van de tot nu toe behaalde successen bij het terugdringen van het aantal rokers teniet te doen, door volwassen rokers te ontmoedigen over te stappen op vapen.<\/p>\n<p>Helaas zijn deze argumenten in dovemansoren gevallen en op 24 oktober kwam het offici\u00eble bericht. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/government-crackdown-on-single-use-vapes\">aankondiging<\/a> Het gaat om een verbod op wegwerp-e-sigaretten, dat op 1 juni 2025 ingaat in Engeland, Schotland en Wales. Dit beleid is bedoeld om diverse problemen aan te pakken die samenhangen met wegwerp-e-sigaretten, die populair zijn onder jongeren in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Naar verluidt gebruikt een kwart van de 11- tot 15-jarigen ze. Door de toegang te beperken hoopt de overheid jongeren te beschermen tegen nicotineverslaving.<\/p>\n<p>Naast gezondheidsbezwaren is het verbod echter ook bedoeld om de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vapingpost.com\/2023\/09\/14\/five-million-disposable-vapes-are-discarded-per-week-in-the-uk-reveals-latest-research\/\">milieu-impact<\/a> Wegwerp-e-sigaretten bevatten schadelijke materialen zoals lithium, plastic en giftige stoffen die stortplaatsen en waterwegen vervuilen. Deze apparaten zorgen wekelijks voor bijna vijf miljoen stuks afval, waarbij lithium-ionbatterijen brandgevaar opleveren in afvalverwerkingsinstallaties.
